Google is a private business.  They can decide what they will and won't post on their website.  why does the right wing hate private business?

Lord Dimwit: starsrift: moothemagiccow: But it's conscionable for them to trick women out of getting abortions.

I don't think they look at it as lying to women about the biology of pregnancy in order to suit their political aims, but instead, saving lives.

It's all a matter of perspective.

People who are against abortion because they truly believe that a human life begins at conception, and who make reasonable concessions for the life and health of the mother (after all, if someone was killing me, event unintentionally,  I'm within my rights to kill them first), are at least consistent in their views.

(Not that I agree with them.)

What I don't get are the people who would rather let a woman die (and take the fetus with her!) than let her have an abortion. That just makes no sense to me.

Because most of the time the line "life begins at conception" really is just a smoke screen for a melange of baser emotions that drive anti-abortionists.

The primary one is that the baby isn't some gift or miracle, but actually a  punishment intended for the woman.  Her sin is having sex while being: poor, lazy, a minority.  They have a delusion of welfare cheats, shiftless minorities, and loose women all having consequence free sex.  Pregnancy is supposed to correct these moral failings by dumping a child that will hopefully change their ways.  Abortion short circuits this whole process.

Now this isn't a  consciousmotivation, but by god, you can detect it in the undercurrents of their speech and the way they frame their arguments.

It also ties into their "just world/prosperity gospel" bullshiat.  That people get what they deserve based upon who they are.  Righteous god fearing christians will never get into a situation that requires an abortion.  Dumb sub-human sinners get into that situation because of their moral failings and deserve what comes to them.

When you start to realize that this is how right-wing authoritarian conservatism thinks and operates, it becomes easy to see why they are so hurtful and vengeful:  It affirms how they are the greater people.

Isn't it amazing when you search in "Google" for "Alternatives to abortion services" the first ad is fro an abortion service.
As usual google is lying and playing politics.

What's REALLY amazing is that JamesMadison1791 is so mentally retarded, yet he apparently typed that entire post by banging his willy on the key baord.

If you google abortion alternatives it is just one sentence. It says that there is no alternative and that women must abort their babies.

Actualy the first result to that search is Crisis pregnancy centers. So as usuall a buch of right wing bull shiat.

There are more than 4,000 crisis pregnancy centers across the country, which according to NARAL, actively dissuade women from undergoing abortions by falsely claiming that abortion can lead to breast cancer, sterility and psychological trauma. The group also says that the centers claim birth control pills cause abortion.

ProdigalSigh: I've been getting "Should Obama be Impeached," banner ads on Youtube videos lately, I always figure it's because every so often I click on a Righty website from Fark.

I've been getting promoted tweets from John Bolton, mustachioed UN ambassador for the US appointed by Bush the Lesser, on my Twitter feed, saying stuff like "Obama is the worst president ever" and "We're eating Iran's shiat!" (paraphrasing, but not by much) followed by "click to agree". I don't even follow right-wing political feeds. Maybe it's because of Fark, since I see those "Obama: most embarrassing president since Clinton" ads on Youtube and Facebook and other places too. Goddamn tracker scripts.

But anyway, "crisis pregnancy centers" are evil, deceptive scam shops that rightly should be excluded from searches for abortion services. They wouldn't have to be. I think there is room in the world for women who have unplanned pregnancies to seek information and explore options that would allow them to bring the baby to term if they want to, but if that's not what they want, they shouldn't be tricked into it.

Pro-life supporters say that the centers provide necessary options besides abortion, The Hill reported.

And then they go on to only mention abortion.

Carol Tobias of the National Right to Life Committee termed Google's decision "unconscionable" and said many pregnant women would be hurt by the move.

Oh, NOW they "care" about women?

"Google is waging a war on women by limiting knowledge of the options and services available to women," she told The Hill.

They aren't searching for "abortion alternatives", you numb coont. If you want them to get the correct results, then you need to set up your SEO for "abortion alternatives".

Jesus, the Right's official motto should be "If we ain't lying, it's not a day that ends in 'Y'".

Are medically-induced abortions sometimes necessary? Sadly, yes. But, there are right and wrong ways to perform those abortions - using a vacuum pump, spreader clamps and steel probe attached to a steel wand is the wrong way. Using herbal medications and natural cleansing is the right way.

I must have missed the drum circle at the last RNC.

I especially like the one where they are claiming that people who are pro-choice are practicing racist eugenics....that's like a black-hole inside of a klein bottle of derp.

Hogue said online advertising by Crisis Pregnancy Centers was their right. But the disputed ads implied that abortions were among the services provided,The Washington Post reported.

So anyone else want to go picket outside of a Crisis pregnancy Center with me asking them why they kill babies?

Glad I'm not the only one.

And to your point if conservatives wanted to stop unwanted pregnancies rather than just abortions, there would be more pressure for better sex education in public schools.  I can't remember the name of the justice but one of the key votes in Roe v. Wade spent months gathering information on abortion, who got them and why.  His ultimate conclusion was that enough women would find ways to get poorly performed abortions (the subplot in Dirty Dancing) that it was a significant enough women's health issue to have them legalized.  I can only imagine that "dirty clinics" would pop up again if it was made illegal.  If kids having sex got an actual education on safe sex, abortions would probably topple.

When I went to college in 1999, there were sex ed workshops offered (possibly mandatory, can't remember) to all freshmen, possibly even a part of orientation.  They basically showed people how to put a condom on and explained some stuff about other birth controls.  When I was a sophomore, my then girlfriend led one of the classes, she had some great/sad stories on how ignorant some of the kids were with their questions.  Now ignore pregnancy and think about the gay kids and HIV... or the sexually active kids who show up already infected with something or pregnant after their senior summer who are too afraid to speak up or even get tested.  Granted this was over ten years ago and I'm not on a campus anymore, but I don't think sex ed has improved since then.

For what it's worth sex ed wise here's what I officially got:  4th grade, read There's a Boy in the Girl's bathroom, and a visit to the girls bathroom where we all asked about the mysterious box in that room, nothing was explained; 6/7th grade boys separated from girls we learned some female anatomy, but were mostly told we're growing hair in places, don't have sex; as freshman/sophomore in high school health class, girls have periods, fallopian tubes, don't have sex.

Lord Dimwit: I know the FDA got after those "Cancer Treatment Centers of America" for not actually, you know, treating cancer. Would the FDA be able to go after these centers for misreprenting themselves as providing a medical service? I would think at a minimum they would be required to refer a pregnant woman to a doctor if her pregnancy was in any way above normal risk.

In a sane world, a place that say, sources for adoption would say to someone seeking an abortion "No, we don't provide that service here. You should go to Planned Parenthood across the street." and that should be the end of it.

This country, last I checked, is far from sane.
