Now that she's really starting to look like a pile of antlers wrapped in factory-second footballs left out in the rain, her fanboys are looking for new reasons to pop a Cialis when the wife goes to "Book Club" with Rodrigo.

If I never heard from that vacuous twunt again I'd STILL hate John McCain for life

I still hold he was forced into it by the Party.  He really had no choice, if he wanted Party support for his campaign.  So... yeah.  I blame it on the GOP and the desperation of a career politician who just can't let go of his Presidential ambition.

She's reduced to sitting in front of a green screen introducing Stupid Redneck Tricks on a cable channel no one has heard of.

The fact that she's starting to look like a Peg Bundy puppet made out of sticks and leather means she won't be making a comeback for the "Starbursts" crowd.

I blame the guys that didn't vet her before picking her for VP candidate. They are the ones that unleashed this horribly twisted version of populism on us.

I agree. Having watched Game Change, I'd say this is what happened.

Yeah, Palin will fade away just like Rush Limbaugh did.  If she can't bash Obama anymore she'll switch to the next elected  DemocraticPresident or just hate on the Washington insiders.  She's carved out her niche.  You'll be hearing the stupid shiat that falls out of her mouth for a while.

No I won't. I don't watch Fox News.

I think they thought they could control her. You can't control crazy-stupid. Epic examples were the Couric and Gibson interviews.

It wasn't long after the 2008 election that I was driving on I-81 and saw an late-90s shiatbox Cavalier practically COVERED in Palin stickers being driven by a middle-aged white guy. The vast majority were McCain/Palin stickers with John's name cut off, but some of them were stickers I'd never seen before (or since) -- there was a huge one on the door that copied the Obama "Hope" photo, but instead had Sarah and said "BABE." One read "Sarah Palin: A Babe We Can Believe In," another "Don't Blame Me, I Voted For the HOT CHICK." I wasn't able to read them all, but there were enough to cover virtually every metal part on the car's body.

I actually felt kinda sorry for Palin at that point, little realizing that a display of this nature was really the attention she craved. As the years progressed and it became more and more obvious that she was not someone desperately thrust by the GOP braintrust into a spotlight she was ill-prepared for, but instead a venal grifter of titanic proportion that empathy disappeared. Now? I hope she gets all the anonymity she deserves and fears.

I really don't think that she has the staying power of Limbaugh. Limbaugh knows how to keep his audience. Palin does not.

Saying stupid incendiary shiat and having the 24 hour "news" cycle pick it up and echo it every time isn't exactly a Limbaugh trade secret.

I'd be happy to be wrong.

You may only pay attention to Limbaugh when he says something incendiary, but the regular listeners don't tune in for that. Limbaugh knows how to twist snippets of data into something that resembles something that sounds like the truth. He does it all day long, day after day. Palin is just a parrot. That "waterboarding is baptism for terrorists thing" wasn't even hers.

Lando Lincoln: I blame the guys that didn't vet her before picking her for VP candidate. They are the ones that unleashed this horribly twisted version of populism on us.

It's not that they didn't vet her so much, as underestimated her ambition. They knew she was a greedy and somewhat stupid woman, and figured that would keep her in line. They thought they could control stupid, because that's been the stock and trade for some time. What's amusing is watching the TEA Party form, and figure that they can control THAT bit of stupid as well.

When you bank on dumb and despicable, you can't really be surprised by the results. They figured with the ethics charges hanging, and them offering her a lifeline, she would be controllable. Instead, they fed a failed reporter's ego, and made her a reality star.

2014-04-29 12:58:25 PM
Whew! All it took was for her to basically blaspheme and renounce Christianity.

Sarah is the President we deserve. We should be thankful as f*ck that she didn't get anywhere near it.

I'm sure she'll be back - just like the herp.

2014-04-29 01:09:19 PM
Nah, if Hillary wins the Republican's will keep her around so they can say "Look, we've got a woman on our team too!".

2014-04-29 01:30:18 PM
When she gets starved for money and attention, she might just get desperate enough to run for office again (though not to win, of course).

That's as a last resort, though. The speaking fees will have to have really dried up by then.
And the "waterboarding baptism" line was in a speech paid for by the NRA.

"Palin is going away" seems like wishful thinking to me

You wish. This one will not go away quietly.

For as much as I despise the man, he's got a work ethic that Palin could never touch.

FTAAfter this weekend, it's probably safe to say that Sarah Palin is done. Like Jesse Ventura or Ross Perot, she may show up every once in a while to hurl red meat or usestunt cameos to remind us a little of her awkward charms. But recent events seem to confirm that she is an Obama-era novelty politician - and not much else.

Uh, FYI: 1) Jesse actually won and was far more convincing in his run for governor of Minnesota than Sarah could ever even try to be. 2) Perot ran for President and, unlike Caribou Barbie, was a decent candidate.

Nope. He picked her as a 'fark You' to the party. He clearly wanted Lieberman, and they were having none of it. Otherwise, she would have been much more thoroughly vetted.

The party wanted a Mitch Daniels type.

If I thought that kind of hateful declaration and abuse of the Christian religion was what conservatism stood for, I wouldn't be able to call myself a conservative. Some conservatives do stand for that. They're wrong, and they should be called out on it - not because some liberal somewhere is going to be offended, but first and foremost because we Christians who identify as conservatives are appalled by it. She's not going away. She just got cheers from the gun derps talking about what she would do as president of NRA-Sponsored Fantasy Land. She's not going away for a long while, unfortunately. She's already disregarded by the general public but the idiots will still throw campaign money at her.

I don't think so. Like a previous poster said, one of the reasons she has so many fanboys has been her looks. Now, those are starting to fade like Morgana's in "Excalibur" after Merlin gets her to utter the Charm of Making in her sleep. She's on the descent.

Punctuated aging.  Similar to punctuated equilibrium, but related to how vain people age. She has employed all manner of techniques to appear younger, make up, surgery, staged lighting, photoshops, etc. But when the literal facade falls, she'll be looking at Old Crone Sarah in the mirror.

Yup. Rush got there on his own, like him or not. Palin was thrust into the National spotlight like Chance the Gardener. She'll claw and scratch to stay there, and she'll always have a following much like the Doo-wop bands on PBS that play the VFW hall , but she's definitely moving down to 3rd string. Now that she looks like a waitress at Cracker Barrel, the Fox crowd won't want her much. She'll probably end up on one of the Jebus channels, enticing rubes to send her their paychecks. It's the circle of life.

THIS.  The fact that Palin/McCain got anything over 20% of the vote is a scathing indictment on our collective intelligence.

How can someone think that that is a good look?  We're not talking about someone who's going to the store in yoga pants because she doesn't care what she looks like on a run to the store.  She chose the outfit, and she deliberately chose those ridiculous platform shoes to make herself look even thinner.
