I don't blame them for not wanting to celebrate this year.  They didn't become the current group until July when Rutsey dropped out.

Next year is their 40th.

I'm a HUGE Rush fan, and I really don't think a lot of the first album.

In fact, I don't think of it at all.

To me Rush starts with Fly By Night

Just my stupid opinion

I met Rush at a record store in the 70's. They signed my copy of Fly by Night.

They've gotten more respect than they deserve. Most grating vocals I've ever heard in my life. Neck and neck with Oasis.

I saw them in concert last year.  It was a good show.  What surprised me the most though was just as they were playing the last song, I could see these red lights shining from the curtains that made up the "back stage."  They ended up being the brake lights on the two limousines that were backed up the tunnel right next to the stage.   Band hit the last chord, lights came up, took a bow, "Good night Uncasville" and then they ran and hopped into the limos.  They were probably on the highway before we got to the top of the stairs.

I won't say they got more or less respect than they deserve but I guess I just don't get it.  They're not horrible, they're not incredible, they're just.......Rush. And yet the fanbase can be as vapid as the Beatles following in the 60's.

that's how I feel too. They have some good material, but a whole lot of mediocre crap. I can't really understand the intense love for a band whose catalogue is pretty consistently 6/10.

I like Rush up till the Power Windows album.  After that some of the songs are ok but by and large they lost their edge.  I will go see them on this tour mainly because I've liked their DVD's of the last two tours and the 'Behind the Lighted Stage' doc.  I know a lot of lesser known bands are doing hard rock concept albums, and I know 'Clockwork Angels' is one, but I wish some of the founding fathers of prog would get back to what made them famous.

Yeah, I watched to two Town Cars and the bus with Peart's trailer on the back take off from behind the venue we watched them at. They either have to leave immediately or wait 2 hours before they leave. I didn't mind, they played their show and their encore. Keep in mind, if it was an outdoor venue, a lot of these places are constrained by laws as to when the show has to end, they might as well leave before a mob of autograph seekers makes it impossible.

The show itself was absolutely stellar, the music rocked and the overall production aspects of the concert would have been enough to keep my attention. Much better than Van Halen back in '12. That show blew goats. Seriously, it did. Of course, I watched it in Tijuana and they spelled Van Halen 'Sexy Tina and her Randy Goats', but I figured that was just the language barrier... I also caught the clap at that concert...

I enjoy Rush. Saw them a few years back and it was a great show. As a vinyl collector, I'm usually weary of "remastered" albums. Too often I find they sound like they just used the masters for the CD release. I ran into that buying the remasters of Judas Priest albums. The original pressing sounds infinitely better to me.

I saw them last year (fifth time total), and I really liked the addition of the string rnxpsemble for the tour. It really added something fresh to the older material.

The original Gull pressing of Sad Wings isn't great though, there are some issues. I took like 3 of them back and exchanged them when it came out, but they were all the same. Still have that record though.

I have the newly remastered repress of Sad Wings, it's my favorite Priest album, and it sounds overly compressed, there is no highs and lows to it which is disappointing. Halford's vocals on that album are monstrous and it takes some of the power out. But I haven't heard the original pressing so it sounds like maybe there's a reason for it. I have original pressings of all the other Priest albums though and they're awesome

A few years back I was in the car with my wife, and Spirit of the Radio came on.  I was rocking out to it in my head, and about 15 seconds in, my wife changed the station.  It was probably the closest I've ever come to hitting a woman.

My wife did that to me the other day while Tom Sawyer was on the radio (she knows she can annoy me that way). I slapped her hand.

Fortunately, my wife actually likes them, and will actually start up an all-Rush playlist on occasion. My 9-year-old son, however, absolutely hates Rush. I bought a few Rush songs for our Lego Rockband game, and he knows all the lyrics now, but he hates it when they get stuck in his head.

I love Rush, but their first album sounds largely like a Led Zeppelin ripoff.

Also, Vapor Trails was the only album of theirs that needed remastering..
