Chelsea Handler is as funny as testicular cancer.

She's gross and not funny.

She isn't. Or at least I was under the impression that her show is scheduled to be taken off E! for that very reason.

Personally I'd rather listen to someone drag their nails across a blackboard for 30 min's than watch another episode of Chelsea Lately .

Not to sound all "change is bad", but with all the new late night hosts the only one I'm even half interested in is Colbert, who will likely be at least 25% less funny and interesting than he is on his current show.

she was sleeping with the head of the network.  that's now she got her show.

I'll be sorry to see Craig go.  He is hands down the best late night host on TV.

Which really means that he'll be 3000% funnier than anyone else on network late night.

Is she funny irl? I only know her from Archer. I mean I've seen her, she's very pretty but I don't watch those morning/afternoon yak shows. If it doesn't interfere with her Archer duties, yeah, give it to her. She has to be better than that Chandler beast.

/why the fark wasn't Archer on last night?

she's incredibly attractive, funny (she's hosting whose line) and fairly awesome.  Handler just seems like a skeevey herp case that has slept/blown her career into shape.

A10Mechanic: 13 episode season?

Oh shiat, that was the season? Dammit. Oh well. They said they were going to go back to the spy thing next season which is for the best.

Didn't mean to thread jack, let me get back on topic. Um, Chelsea Handler sucks hard. At least that's what all the TV execs who ran a train on her before she signed her contract said.

Sybarite: I'm imagining Chelsea Handler uses that phrase a lot.

I'm imagining that her farts sound like the door opening on a aircraft hanger. She's like a less mannish, more liquored Ann Coulter, which is not really a compliment.

"Everything is an option" is Hollywood speak for "I'm desperate for the job, but playing coy, but really I'll blow everyone from the washroom attendant on up for a chance at it!"

Skip the dicking around and put Sarah Silverman on network TV.  You've already been bleeping Craig for ages.

There used to be a watershed.  You used to actually be able to swear on late night TV.

People hate Sarah Silverman around here but I think she's hot and yes, funny. We're not talking George Carlin/Richard Pryor but she's a cute chick who talks dirty. Sometimes my tastes are less than sophisticated.

That's all she has going for her. Sarah is to Athena as Zeus is to Howard Stern. Except she came forth from a different head.

She's already got two full-time shows on her plate with The Talk and Whose Line...Then add her Archer voiceover stuff.

It sounds like I'm of the same opinion of a lot of you here.  I can't stand her.  I thought she was funny at first, but the hostility and aggressiveness makes her seem like an asshole.  Oh yeah, and acting like an asshole in real life also makes her seem like an asshole.

Whose Line barely counts as a full-time show.  From everything I've heard they tape all the episodes in a short period.  And why does it seem like you're assuming she couldn't leave one or both if she got a better gig?

Didn't Tyler also host The Soup for awhile, which would be pretty similar to a late night show type of "stand up" monologue type of thing.

Yeah, Tyler does a lot of low-profile things but a network talk show would be huge for her.  Not to mention that she's hilarious and has a very charming and likable demeanor.  She's light years beyond Chelsea Handler, who always seemed to be as bored of her show as I was.

As far as Chelsea's ratings:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea_Lately#Ratings

They are down, but, 500k viewers is probably still pretty decent for a network like E!'s cable profile.

For similar cable comparison...  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conan_(TV_series)#Ratings

Conan in 2013 was 800k, and TBS is a much higher profile cable network than E!

"Archer" probably wouldn't present too much of a problem, it's only 13 half hour (22 minutes, really) episodes a year.  Also, voice work usually doesn't take that much time.  When Lucky Yates (Dr. Krieger) was on Alton Brown's podcast he said he only works 15 minutes every couple weeks when he's working on the show.  And they record their parts individually, so it probably wouldn't be an issue for them to schedule around whatever else she was doing.

And as other people have said upthread, "Whose Line" isn't exactly a huge time commitment either.  When Drew Carey was hosting he was the star/executive producer of his own sitcom at the same time.

Julie Chen is the main host on the show and she's married to network head Les Moonves. Sarah Gilbert is also one of the show's producers.

I don't see them standing in her way.

mjohnson71: Could she get out of the contracts? Who owns The View, Whose Line... and Archer?

It's "The Talk" rather than The View that she's on, and CBS owns it. If CBS wants her on the Late Late Show, they can easily do it.

Not to mention CBS could probably easily buy her out of the Whose Line contract if they needed to, and they might not be bothered by her doing one or two more seasons of Archer (I doubt there's any more than that), especially since it's not a terribly large time commitment.

Her or NPH would be probably the best choices amongst those thrown out there. Please god not Chelsea Handler. Her interviews are awful. She only manages to be funny on her show by having 3 or 4 other comedians around with her.

My GF and I saw her doing standup on Apr 19 in Boston and yes she is very funny. She also did a meet and greet after the show even though she was feeling sick signed her book took a picture and would not spoil who Lana's baby daddy was. :)

/it was a week before the season finale she just said you'll find out soon

I'm thinking Les Moonves is rubbing his hands together at the prospect of Chelsea auditioning for the
role of Late Late Show host.

I think I might like Handler better if she wasn't so blatantly lying about her age.  It is so obvious she is not in her 30s.  And god help her if she looks like that and isn't lying about her age....

She also tried the porn (leaked sex tape) route but most people did not have the stomach to watch.
