Haz a sad now.

As I said in another thread, I'd be fine if Ferguson replaced Colbert, even if it were with a more conventional show.  I like his humour.

Dnrtfa...is his Green Card expired?

This makes me incredibly sad. His is one of the only shows I actually DVR and watch. I will say. . . the next 8 months are going to be a hell of a ride. His "give a fark" is already pretty much non-existent, so this is going to send the show into even more absurd territory. Bring it on. I'm ready.

Agreed.  Should be fun.

I think he became a citizen.

Thirded. I'm looking forward to him burning the studio to the ground.

On the one hand....

I'm sorry, but the crazed Scotsman with an animatronic skeleton and two guys in a horse costume routine only works for so long.

On the other, CBS won't be able to find anybody who can do that show nearly as good as he did.  This may also be a good thing for him, because if he winds up anywhere it'll be on basic cable.  He could only go so far on broadcast.

I admire him but it is still a bummer.  Go have fun doing something else, Craig.

Let me be the first to say...  BALLS.

2014-04-29 01:00:50 AM
The Late Late Show is one of mt favorites. Craig is the best interviewer in late night, plus he's the funniest current host. I'll miss the Scottish Conan guy, the gay robot skeleton sidekick and the not a real horse. Hopefully Sid, Wavy and the rest will make appearances in the next several months.

2014-04-29 01:01:59 AM
That was the only late show I regularly watched. Hell, it was the only thing on CBS I watched. Sad to see him go.

2014-04-29 01:04:27 AM
Good for him.

Always leave em' wanting more.

I believe you mean BALL... Mr Wick.

As someone who caught one of his tapings the last time I was in LA on vacation, I'll be sad to see him go. At the same time, he deserves to take it easy and enjoy the Letterman, Dreamworks, and Disney money that's been rolling in.

Also on the bright side, maybe the means Capaldi can get him a guest spot on Doctor Who.

American On Purpose.

/yes he did

Tavis Smiley should move from PBS.

2014-04-29 01:18:36 AM
I also has a sad, but at least I won't be tempted to turn on the TV at 12:07 a.m. every night. I should sleep better once he leaves.

2014-04-29 01:19:09 AM
I'm going to miss him very much, but he has lots of money and a hot wife.  He won't be bored.

2014-04-29 01:20:17 AM
I hope this turns into a massive show of public support. I would be amazed if he isn't the genuine, smart, and thoughtful guy in his off-camera life that he appears to be while hosting.

He also means a lot to those of us who have struggled with addiction.

Please keep working, funny man.

My brain... get out.

Man, that's really a bummer.  He was perfect for his timeslot.  I didn't think it would have worked out for him to replace Letterman... but damn, he kinda has the perfect little corner of the late night world.

Good luck to him, wherever he lands.

2014-04-29 01:45:02 AM
Surprisingly, I'm ok with this.  I love the Late Late show, but I'm far more interested in seeing what he's going to do on his own now, without needing to commit to that nightly broadcast.

And if it were actually about the money or Dave leaving, he'll let us know (probably would have already).

Bummer. Skeleton Army.

2014-04-29 02:14:09 AM
Ferguson's monologues were phenomenal his first year. It was amazing to see real comedy and not just corny jokes about today's news and celebrities' babies.

2014-04-29 02:33:34 AM
I think I heard Seth Meyers was beating him. I gave the Seth Meyers show a chance and it was boring, unfunny, and corny. What's wrong with late night viewers?

2014-04-29 02:48:41 AM
This really sucks. My two late night guys are Dave and Craig, when they're gone, I'll have nothing. Looks like it's gonna be youtubing old episodes.

They're morons. Look how long they kept Leno afloat.

2014-04-29 03:42:19 AM
This is a huge bummer. Ferguson's show reminded me of when I first started watching Letterman back in the 80's. I love that ridiculous unscripted banter with Geoff.

I hate this news with the fiery rage of ten thousand suns :(

Anyone else get the feeling there might be some bad blood between Craig and CBS? Like maybe he was supposed to get the first option on Letterman's show?

Like his book title "American on Purpose" suggests.

He's still a Scot. $8 million severance, invested well, is into the realm of "fark you" money. He can go enjoy himself someplace cheaper than L.A. until he finds something he wants to do.

That they're watching formulaic network television?

Was was, which is why they're paying him something like $12 million because they chose farking Colbert over him..

Also there's rumors he was having an affair with Julie Chen. So who knows. If true, you'd think he would have learned a lesson with the whole Dave banging Monty back in the days. Although, the Dave and Monty years were farking GOLDEN.

2014-04-29 04:46:41 AM
I'm glad for him that he will be going on his own terms.  I'm selfishly sorry to see him go because he made my night shifts bearable and kept me rolling and thinking with his interviews.  I know there are a lot of people who will be sad to see him go.

2014-04-29 08:06:20 AM
That stinks. I wanted to go see his show when I was in New York a couple of months ago. Then I found out his show tapes in LA. I don't know why I always thought it was in New York. Has that kind of vibe...

2014-04-29 08:16:30 AM
That's too bad.  It will leave a sad hole in my TiVo's Now Playing list.

2014-04-29 08:26:13 AM
You know, I came this close this morning to deleting a bunch of Late, Late Shows I have on my DVR because I was running out out of room.  Glad I decided against it.

2014-04-29 08:33:58 AM
This really sucks. Craig is the only late night host I like and Josh Robert Thompson (Geoff) is an incredibly funny man. However, the Variety article slepygryhnd posted above makes me feel a little better. I hope he does some cool new projects.

2014-04-29 08:49:19 AM
Sooooo...Kristen Bell better be his last guest.

He beat Conan at 12:30 (11:30 Central) when they were head to head, but then fell behind Jimmy Fallon the whole time he had "Late Night." And Fallon isn't talented one bit. Only NBC's paid social media buzz is holding Tonight with Fallon afloat. His team is stealing bits Letterman was doing 20 years ago. So much for being fresh.

2014-04-29 09:16:42 AM
Major bummer!  Tweets and emails are always a riot. I find it interesting when someone writes in from Louisville, KY (where I am) and the whole "Looieville/Looavul" pronunciation joke.
