If anybody did anything like this, it would be the outrage of the decade.

The moral of the story is: Don't let too many photos of your death camps leak out, and it will all be forgiven eventually.
The other moral is starving millions of people is more acceptable if you don't take them to a concentration camp, but simply starve them at home, like the Ukraine.

Popov:  Better than Grey Goose.  Better than Absolut.  Better than Ketel One.  And as good as Smirnoff.

No, not kidding.  Think one of those others is better?  You're wrong, and you're paying for marketing hype.

This isn't wine, it's not beer, it's not whiskey, it's not tequila.  It's neutral spirits.

The best Vodka has 2 ingredients:

1. Ethanol
2. Water

Anything other ingredients detract from its quality. Therefore any brand free of manufacturing defects will be chemically the same as the next that does the same.

Its like saying my distilled water is better than your because I spent $10M on catchy songs and hot models.

Neither of those ingredients are simple to create with a high purity. Distillation is much more of a science than you think.

I'm not a big gambler or big drinker (anymore), but there are people out there who go in for all sorts of stuff, including things like this vault.  Many make and lose fortunes again and again and are just high rollers with oodles of cash, women, mansions, businesses et al.  It's fun for them.  I wouldn't go so far as to call them shiat for brains.

Now the guy who doesn't have any equity other than a vodka vault?  Um, yea shiat for brains.

I was invited to a party at this place, which included several trips to the vodak vault. (I wasn't paying for any if it.)  It's pretty fun--they give you a long fur coat and Russkie style fur hat to wear if you want, and send you in--it's below freezing in there--while hotties pour you various shots of vodak that you drink on a fake block of ice table.  I wouldn't pay the asking price, but I was happy to do it for free.

The food in the restaurant is pretty good, too.

If you feel the need to age vodka, you are too stupid to expect a premium for that aging.

Didn't mythbusters prove that you can take cheap vodka, brita filter it a few times and make "good" vodka?

Honestly vodka is a neutral spirit and for people who want to get drunk, but can't stomach real liquors. I don't like drinking vodka because it is boring. I ordered Makers Mark in Vegas and got a respecting look and a generous poor from the bartender.

Well established science to which all but the tiniest of distillers have access.

There is no fundamental difference in professionally produced international brands. There are no "trade secrets" in distilling. Its all about applying well known science consistently.

Not really.

In fact, they called the myth "busted".

Kari actually thought the 3rd filtration was the worst and the "top shelf" was the 2nd worst.

Jamie thought the "control" was the 2nd worst.and thought the "top shelf" was the best.

The "pro" lined them up in exactly the correct order.

They concluded (based on their very small test) that although you could improve the vodak with up to 6 filtrations, but it wouldn't make it "top shelf".

I settled on Absolut Black Label after trying many different brands. I didn't fall for marketing hype. I frequented a large liquor store and went down the line of purchasing various bottles until I found one that was as close to perfect as possible for me. From all the bottles I tried I didn't see a large gap in the after taste except for Grey Goose - farking disgusting aftertaste to me, and the only bottle I've ever bought that I ended up not even drinking.

Yeah. Around my third or fourth double Jameson (neat), the waitress asked how many I could handle. I told her I'd love to find out. But Mandalay Bay is a cruel mistress with limits too high for me to sustain.

For $10,000 a year you could handily drink yourself to death, or just stay mildly inebriated while enjoying occasional hooker treats. If there was any reason at all to rent a "vault" to stash drink I'm sure the local self storage facility would offer a reasonable sized space for much less than this.

Bartender was probably looking at him to determine if he'd be able to tell the difference between Maker's Mark and whatever he refilled the bottle with.

If you stick a stock of liquor in your locker, it is slick to stick a lock upon your stock; or some joker who is slicker will trick you of your liquor if you fail to lock your liquor with a lock

A $10k vodak vault is one of those things where I just have to ask why. What's the point, other than really conspicuous consumption of the sort that does nothing but signal to everyone that you're new money? Sure, if I was really rich the money wouldn't be much, but the whole thing just seems tacky.

Also, vodak is boring.

Exactly. As a bartender I can tell you that every Tom, Dick, and Jane orders Makers. It's an incredibly common call and at $30 a bottle, not exactly "high end". You wanna order Blanton's or Pappy, then we can talk.
