Why was the motel worker not arrested? If a person is sitting in car at night and some strange man puts his head in the window he deserves to be punched in self-defense and then the victim drove  away from the motel employee that attacked who still held onto the car for around 50 feet  in an further attempt to do harm to the driver. It is a stupid idea to just poke a person's head into a strangers car, it could be seen as an attempt at theft of items in the car or in a much more threatening manner.

Close the windows. Lock the doors.

By the way the article described it, his head was no more in the car than if the window wasn't even open. But yeah he's an idiot.

Hmm, i can't call the police on them for just parking there, but what if i get right in their face and try to provoke them. Honey, you watch and wait with the phone to call 9/11.

At no place in the article did it stipulate that police would look at this with an air of intelligence.  Mostly likely just take his side since they can use rooms real quick for hookers they roust...

So there's a stand your ground for when you're in a car?

Is it called 'sit your ass'?

"The employee walked over to the car and leaned in toward the driver's open window, at which point the driver punched him in the face, according to police. "

"Leaned in towards" does not mean putting your head inside the car.   Annoying, for sure.  Punch worthy?  Hardly.

//leaning in towards a pair of boobies means you are getting a better view of cleavage, not sticking your mug in the valley.

Dude was working the overnight shift at a hotel and noticed some asshole about to steal stuff out of cars parked in the hotel's parking lot. Duh.

Invading a car when occupied is exactly the same as invading a house in my state.

Close enough to get punched and grab the driver. Have to be pretty close to grab the driver.

That area is notorious for hookers and drug deals. Motel worker is an idiot and likely interrupted a trick of some kind.
/no sympathy from me, and I'm sure the police were unconcerned as well.

If for some bizarre reason you don't want the police to handle it...  Snap a cell phone pic of the license plate, upload it.  If they still don't drive off, take a cell phone pic of the driver, upload it.  If they don't murder you immediately, they're probably not up to shenanigans.

No, but studying the history of police and our justice system ...

I saw an old man struggling to break into his own truck, after he locked his keys inside.  I addressed him as friend at 10" away for the protection of either of us, in broad daylight.  The motel worker is an idiot.

If you address me as 'friend' from 10 inches away, I'll probably punch you, too.  Creep.
