For a 62 year old in his shape (making assumptions there)...I'd be impressed with anything under 3.

Good on him though. Stressful job and not the healthiest lifestyle...it's good to see him doing something positive for his health.

Did he walk it?

2014-04-28 04:15:32 PM
Pffft, I'm going for 1:45 this year.

2014-04-28 04:16:28 PM
Anyone have it on tape?

Not bad for someone his age.

I'm trying for a sub-2:00 time this year.  First attempt is about 3 weeks away.

2014-04-28 04:19:04 PM
jeez.  my last was about 2:10, and that was in my, uhhh, "mid 30s".

2:36 is pretty farking impressive for 62.

I used to love running. Asthma has completely ruined me.

That's 12 minute miles. It's practically walking.

Came to say this. And I mean, good for Belichick just for doing this, etc. etc., but it's not like that was a fantastic time. Sounds like brisk walks and jogs interspersed. Still very good exercise.

He averaged a blistering 4.9 MPH.  Which is about how fast I run these days.

What you did there...

2014-04-28 04:40:14 PM
He would have finished it faster if not for the wind resistance from the hood.

2014-04-28 04:40:42 PM
Its plenty faster than walking, but for a guy with access to the finest training facilities in the world, its not special. Still, theres every chance he was being social on the way round, glad-handing Pats fans and the like.

Juicing. Just look at those moobs.

Love seeing that score on the right-hand side of the screen.

That's awful, I'm much younger and in better shape and my time is much better. Not impressed, sorry senior citizen who ran a half marathon.

His time isn't too bad, according to the USATF, for local class (ie getting trophies for his age group) he would need to knock out a 2:04 and that's farking hard time for a man half his age who doesn't put in 8~10 hours a week for training. But for his age, and his lifestyle, that's a damn respectable time.

/came in 4th for my age group at a 5k
//lost second place by 9 seconds.
///1st place guy beat us by 2 minutes.

This. Although, you forgot "and I have time to train because I don't spend my entire life coaching pro football."

/unless you coach pro football

I bet his players would kill for a time like that.

Not a bad time for someone being chased by an angry mob

wichitaleaf: 12 minute mile. What's that a fast walk.

Not really. In the 2012 Olympics, the slowest finisher in the 50k walk was still ~8:15/mile and the gold medal winner broke 7:00/mile. Most people can't beat a half-way decent walker in distance races, though, which is probably why many Farkers who complain loudly about "walking paces" on every marathon/half-marathon thread never seem to post their actual times.

/slower than a good race walker
//seems to see at least one or two decent race walkers at every race I do

Race walking is the most comical sport in the history of competition.

That's a horribly slow time, Orpah like paces.

3:18:xx PR for the marathon on a hot, humid day.

Anyone who rips anyone else for their running time is a douchebag. At least the person is out there running.

I'm 29 and I didn't even break 3 miles today in 35 minutes. Give me he'll all you want, I have been doing this for six months and feel a lot better but realize I will never be a runner. Not everyone has the muscle skeleton stature to be a runner.

I was 6 foot tall and weighed 200 pounds in 8th grade swimming 8000 yards everyday in the winter.

Fair enough, but Bill Belicheck has a reasonable build (barring neglected health), so he can't use that excuse

I initially thought the headline said he ran a marathon in 2:36.  I was ready to bow down and wash his feet.   Now I just don't care.   Just a 62 year old guy out for a jog.

Seriously. I'm actually a little surprised there's people trashing him in this thread.
