The "mansplaining" comment killed the article for me.  Because god forbid someone comment on their significant other's hobby without it being picked to death for political correctness.

From O'Holla's Soul Makossa review: "This is the type of song that you want people to slow dance to at your outside barbecue, under a full moon with the smell of wisteria in the air."

Uh, yes.
But I liked that song before that double wide hipsteress was born.

Blows my barely 100+ vinyl collection out of the water though. Someone is always bigger. Who cares?

This premise is interesting to me. I started a "My top 1,000 songs" list and have thought about writing about what each song means to me and why I like it and where I was at the time and all of that stuff. A personal music journey and perspective. Maybe some people would actually care. Neato!

Maybe some day.

I started a daily post in my online music community several years ago called morning commute song du jour. I would write a paragraph or two about one of the more notable songs that shuffled up while coming in to work that morning, and why that song is memorable or significant to me, or has some sort of story.

I got bored of doing it inside of 3 weeks.

I have over a thousand in my living room and I don't consider myself a serious collector.

I will say that my 1000 is really just an accumulation while this guy has clearly bought only we he wants.

The only problem is 1000 is way too long for a list. The items don't mean anything, because there are so many others in the list. That's why you don't often see lists longer than 100, and even then, people skip to the top ten or twenty.

Maybe sub lists by genre, etc, could keep it interesting.

My point was mostly that 1,500 isn't exactly as big as they make it out to be in the article.  I had way over 1,500 CDs before I decided to rip everything to a hard drive and never looked back.

As for the top 1,000 song list, good luck.  I'm still working on all my playlists.

And yes, I happen to be a woman writing about her experiences and having an opinion. I guess that's still controversial these days

And that is when I stopped reading. Not every in the world is about your vagina. Some one just think you are a twat, having one is completely unrealated . Twat

I will say this... some dude did an extensive list of ranking EVERY Beatles song.  It was, like, his opinion, man... but it was really well done.

That she is a stupid twat because cause she thinks that "No one could disagree with Meee  They must be sexist."

So don't care any more . Better things to do then listen to a self absorbed douche like her

Records are low quality audio. Why would you gimp your audio collection with big, bulky poor quality records?

For the additional warmth you get when listening to it through a tube amp, duh.

Now, on the surface, her comment is pure twiddle and stupidity. When has soccer moms writing about how stupid their husbands are ever been 'controversial'?  She's not a female Nelson Mandella. She's farking biatching about something the XY chromosome bearing meatpuppet she farks did.

It's pretentious to go 'I have an opinion and a vagina, therefore I AM CUTTING EDGE LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME LOOK AT MEEEEEEEEEE'.

Yeah I couldn't decide either, but there were one or two pics in there where she looked really nice.

I would say any non-exhaustive ranking over 25 is typically pointless.

If the list in exhaustive, then longer lists can be more interesting. But even then a top and bottom 25 list is probably more useful.

It's Fark, so I didn't expect anyone to agree with me, but I think y'all are reading something different than me. She's saying "Dudes generally dismiss women who speak their minds".

Which is exactly what you did.

Yeah, 1,000  might be (most likely be) too many, but the whole thing started sort of as a joke.

We would hear a song and say "maybe top 100" or "Top 50" or whatever. Today was a good day came on by Cube and I said "Easily top 500" and we all laughed.

So then I started to put a list together and thought long and hard about every damn song I really really like (songs that were influential on my life and songs I would never ever skip when they come on ...and got to 1,409 songs.

If I did this, yeah, i would whittle it down to 500..that was the original joke anyway. Or 250.

/Thanks y'all!
