Jumping head first into anything except a pool where you know the depth and can spot obstructions is asinine and adults should know better. That being said I wish no ill will on this guy and hope he recovers and teaches people about water safety and the dangers of being an idiot.

Fark you subby, this should've had the sad tag, not dumbass. Man takes time out of his life to raise money for a little boy and gets injured. That's not dumbass. Dumbass is when you butt chug too much Franzia and get hospitalized with alcohol poisoning.

Dumbass most definitely describes diving headfirst in to water of unknown depth, regardless of the reason for going in.

Russ1642: Kanemano: when giving to Charity's just sign the damn check, and skip the running, jumping and all other types of shenanigans

I've never understood the verb-for-ailment things. Unless the verb is research then yes it's totally ok to just give money so someone else can research it.

It's typically an attempt to show dedication to the cause and inspire others to donate as well. For something SIGNIFICANTLY nerdier and nonphysical, check out the Awesome Games Done Quick marathons where they essentially speed run video games for charity. They've raised a significant amount of money doing it.

The challenge calls on people to take a polar plunge with a couple friends

Sigh... I really miss proofreaders, editors and competent journalists.
