He should have worn a full-face helmet, but then he would have been splattered by his own sneeze.

Sounds more like a complaint about the road. "This road's a real teeth rattler"

My headline was sneeze stops traffic in Madrid.

92% off topic: Just finished reading a book where a gal was attending an Escoffier cooking school, looking to end up being a chef. One day as she prepared a more complicated than average soup the head instructor stopped by her station and while wafting the aromas off her creation into his nose opened his mouth to say something and dropped his false teeth into the soup.

Okay, I'm through now ..

You can, but if you buy the one that's actually fun to ride you'll get told you're a pussy riding a girls harley by those 50+ RUBs on their trailer queen chrome farms.

I wish HD hadn't treated Buell so badly. They built some amazing machines around HD power plants.

Of course, my bike doesn't even qualify as girly, so what do I know? :P

I like the XR1200, and I have never heard it referred to as a girl's bike, the 883 and 1200 Sporsters, yes, but never the XR. I personally didn't get one because as I get older I like my comforts, so unfaired bikes are only ok as the 2nd or 3rd bike, but not as the main ride. Plus, let's face it, I would probably look silly on it.

/Fat and over 50. Yes, I ride an Ultra.
//That said, the XLCR remains my all time favourite HD.

That's fine, Buell found someone who was more than willing to build him a modern high end V-twin powerplant.  The EBR 1190RS is light years ahead of anything he would have eventually produced using HD sourced powerplants.

That is one properly pissed off American motorcycle.

Here's the thing, though. With all due respect for Erik Buell, many people can build a fast, good handling, narrow-focus bike for $47k, what's hard is to build one for half that price.

Half that? Ducati Hypermotard SP. BMW S1000R. I'd name others, but those are the ones I've ridden that are firmly in the "a better bike than I can use" category AND cost less than $23,000. I'd suggest the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200, but I've only ridden the 800 and it was, well, uninspiring. The Hypermotard might be my second bike, unless the MV Rivale 800 REALLY startles me whenever I get to test one. The Japanese offerings are all too small/tight for me to ride for 600+ km days. The Duc had me grinning like sanity had pulled the ripcord when the front wheel started doing that light skipping thing at 150 kph when I rolled on without downshifting...

These days, there's a great many bikes that come in at about 400 lbs and over 100 hp, with all the latest in chassis and suspension, plus the electronics to keep noobs from doing a ground loop on day 1.

Shiat, my 650GS puts down more power on less weight than my first sportbike did. It's also narrower. Draw your own conclusions. Heck, the Heidenau K60s it's wearing probably stick better than the Avons I had on that old Seca, and K60s are semi-knobbies :P

The old Buells were not cheap, but they weren't 47 grand, either. Pretty sure the old "Buell" bikes were a much better idea than the current stupidly pricey EBRs that most people won't buy.
