shower_in_my_socks: 74 degrees and sunny here in LA today. 6 mph breezes. The jasmine have bloomed. Partially explains the median home price in SoCal of $408,000 vs. $125,000 in Mississippi, I guess. Some shiat did get knocked off my shelf in an earthquake a few weeks ago, though.

Not living around douchebags.. priceless.

At first I was like WTF? Then I looked at the radar. Looks like a cell wanted to jump the gun for tomorrow.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's already a violent tornado (yet)

Normally when it has a debris ball it is violent just because its throwing debris high enough in the air for the radar to pick it up.

Also the storm just to the west of Atlanta looks like its developing a hook as well.

One thing I don't like about my Galaxy S3 (unless I just haven't learned how to do it or there's a function in the app) is that you can't screen shot.

Point taken. I was out of the house for a bit so I didn't get a chance to look at correlation coefficients (from dual pol) for the debris signature. Thanks to dual-pol, I'm not just going on a possible debris signature on reflectivity. But the point is, OMFG tornadoes!

If that thing is a long track like most of the ones today have been, Atlanta may take anything from a brush to a hit on the chin.

Since the storms are moving slower than the ones in MS, I'm not sure really how to phrase things for the Atlanta area except "Better safe than sorry." Both storms are still powerful and could still drop violent tornadoes.

AirForceVet: downstairs: Battery operated personal fans.  Especially if you live somewhere hot.

Ooooo, good idea! I was without power for 36 hours back in Pinellas County, FL during the summer of 2004 (four hurricanes hit the state that year).

While I had everything I needed, without air conditioning or fans, it got miserable, even for a Floridian like me. Dead, humid air.

I lived in Tampa during those hurricanes i was without power for 8 days as something happened with our apartment complex where only half the buildings got power back within a day or two. After the 4th day i said fark this heat and used some hotel miles and got a room for the remainder of the power being out.

I had good supplies too. Ice, a little propane grill with the 1lb cylinders, a tub full of water, canned food, beer, bottled water, etc. The miserable heat and humidity was what made me leave in the end.

I got nailed by a bunch of bees in the face while driving past the CDC today only to get home to tornadoes. Thanks, Atlanta.
