RIP DJ EZ ROCK

"it takes two" is probably one of the greatest songs in hip/hop / dance, and the best part of that song is the genius line:

"Yo, talkin' to me?"
"no"
"oh"

hehehehe

And we're a better world because of it, or something.

That song "It takes two" is the sound of my high school.  Afternoons in the late 80's when we were walking to our cars, that sound was blasting from blocks away.

.I have the single on LP. It's the only record I own. I keep meaning to get it framed.

The reason is because in the early 90s, the carnival came to my tiny island and brought this ride:

www.domainofdeath3.com

They played "It Takes Two" practically on a loop. And I rode Gravitron again and again and again. I stopped counting at 40 times in one weekend. I rode it so often they started giving me every other ride free. As such, the stylings of Sir Rob Base and The Right Honorable EZ Rock are indelibly seared into my brain meats.

I love that song.

RIP Your Rockness.

Early '90s here, but, yeah, around here it was It Takes Two and Just A Friend.

During my senior year (91 - 92), we used to listen to that song on the way to our cross-country meets -- about a dozen skinny white kids singin' along.

Good times... good times.

Wasn't the sample of this used for the Yo MTV Raps theme song?  I very much attribute this song for helping create and establish the hip hop genre.

Back in 1996 I was at Yankee Stadium in the bleachers for the big Yankees/Orioles doubleheader at the end of the season. Yankees take Game 1, we get "New York, New York" over the PA and then "It Takes Two" since it's a doubleheader har har. David Cone comes out to warm up for Game 2 toa huge ovation from the bleachers... just as Rob raps "Cause I'm a leader, the man superior." Still gives me the fuzzies.

Nope, that was The 45's "The 900 Number".

Oh wait, my bad...They used that for the Ed Lover Dance. But the answer to T.rex's question is still no.

Maybe they changed it, but It Takes Two absolutely was the theme when Raps came out in 1988.  Maybe you're thinking of "Yo MTV Raps Today" which was a daily spin-off.

Yeah, that's what I was saying... what you linked to was the daily YO! show, which was (for lack of a better term) a spin-off.  Different hosts, different theme.
