I guess they could have complained bitterly at the Senator not congratulating her own state's team...

Which in fairness, would have been far more hilarious. Seriously kids. If you're so deep into butthurt that you can't be joined together for cheering the same damn sports, then you are officially dead inside. Well, except maybe for horse ballet--if you're cheering for dressage and looking to be "the man of the people" then folks can point and laugh. But hockey? Cripes. Let it go, kids. Let. It. Go. Next thing up: no Democrat can cheer on baseball or football and ONLY European soccer teams, and certainly not local colleges or high schools, because that's just "pandering" when they do it, but when a Republican Senator who hasn't seen the inside of his own home in nearly a year of hard work at the capitol, he sends congratulations for the local boys, that's true support, amirite?

Just what you would expect from the party of evil.  Disdain, criticism, elitism in sports fanship, pandering to the LCD, sewing doubt about someone by questioning that they are a strong enough ____ with ____.  Then come the comparisons.

No, but they did use the Daily Caller as if it was a legitimate source (because apparently the racist NBA owner is a Democrat).

I say that every day. Think of how much we could have accomplished for our country and the world, even if just in this century, if they didn't...or if all repubs were like Teddy Roosevelt.

No wars, especially not the war we've been in the longest in our history
Single-payer health care
Same-sex marriage legal in all states
Abortion easily available in all states, treated as the private medical decision that it is
A thriving middle class and ever-shrinking poverty numbers
No banking economic crash
A balance between military and domestic program spending
Incentives to retain jobs in this country instead of off-shoring
A compassionate immigration program
A well-supported education system applied equally across the country and stringent home-schooling requirements
Student loan reform
Campaign financing reform
Sane and balanced gun control

...a frigging utopia. Sigh.

OK, well, we wouldn't have had:

Grenada (which was St. Ronnie's thing), Desert Storm (which may or may not have been necessary), Iraq, Afghanistan (if we hadn't been there in the first place, the Democrat wouldn't have needed to "expand" it).

Abortion, same-sex marriage, immigration, campaign-finance reform and gun control would have continued to be issues; but without the demented intractability and the "let's make Obama a one-term president!" rhetoric, they'd have been smaller, local, and more easily resolved.

The banking crisis would have happened (since Clinton repealed Glass-Steagall at the behest of Wall Street, not the Republicans), but it would have been more easily rectified for the same reason as above.

The debt-ceiling crisis would not have occurred.

Education, home-schooling and the student-loan crunch would not have been reduced to LIBERALS BAD! GOD GOOD!

Union-busting would not have become a thing again.

We would not be having the "single-moms cause poverty" discussion that had previously been quashed when I was a wee lass in the 70's.

Shall I go on?

Where are you seeing any outrage about these tweets?  I see people being incredulous, wryly amused, perhaps exasperated, but I'm not seeing any outrage specific to the tweets.  Sure, there's some outrage at the Republicans in general, but when you've got a dyspeptic orangutan that smears its feces on everything in your house every chance it gets, you're going to get a bit wary when you hear it cut a fart, even a small one.

Well obviously the Democrats were secretly behind the assassination of that Archduke, put up "Bomb Me" signs on the US fleet in Pearl Harbor, sent "Party in Seoul, bring your tanks!" invitations to the North Koreans, and bet the French one night at a party that they wouldn't try to re-take northern Vietnam.

You beat me to that point. Regardless of the presidential affiliation, we would have entered the world wars. It would have been very difficult to be one of the top industrialized nations and sit on the sidelines for those two, especially with Japanese bombers attacking us and public sentiment swayed against the Kaiser. Would a Republican president renege on treaties and alliances, and just sit back and watch international communism spread through Asia? The party of McCarthy, being opposed to preventing the fall of various dominos? The tards who added God to the pledge and currency letting an atheist empire take over the world?

It's been a far right talking point for decades that FDR allowed Pearl Harbor to happen though if not outright baited Japan into it. He's historys greatest monster! after Woodrow Wilson.

It's a natural progression.

We've gone from "Pointing out Republican racism is the real racism" to "Pointing out Republican poutrage is the real poutrage."

You know, maybe I'm just an old fart, but what's the upside for a political party to be on twitter?

Anyone who follows them either:
A) would vote for them even if they raped a nun in the middle of Times Square as long as they remember to shout "BENGHAZI" as they gave her the money shot, or
B) is just following them to point out how childish they are on twitter.

I really don't see what they're getting out of this except the possibility of raising the existential question of "How much sand can your twitter account's vagina contain before it officially becomes the Sahara Desert?"

From the sound of it, the NH GOP Twitter account has already sucked up all the sand in the universe and is now working on sucking up the sand in parallel universes.

While I take most opportunities to point out that the root of Twitter is "twit", there are a few legitimate uses.

It was used very effectively here a few years back when they were evacuating people for a forest fire that almost moved into town. Other municipalities have used it for many similar situations, whether hurricane evacuation, weather alerts, or Amber Alerts.

People who go on tour, bands, comedians, authors can all use it for quick tour updates, announcing new dates or ticket availability. They can also use it for tour updates for the fans.

That's about it, but there ARE legitimate uses, most notably the first example I listed. For that reason, I find myself sometimes wishing that it had been a government program from the beginning. It has great potential as a emergency communication tool. In fact, it could totally supplement the Emergency Broadcast System, and between the two, I bet they could reach 95% if the population...

The Why Not Guy: I always thought being attacked by Japan got us into World War II. Thank you GOP for infroming me that it was really the Democrats.

Japan was running amok through the Pacific, but the isolationists didn't want the US to intervene.  Various peace negotiations went nowhere, but they were fairly careful not to do anything that would force US to intervene.

As the Japanese invaded more places, the US was still selling them oil, because stopping would have caused almost instant war.  The administration actually took a lot of flak for this - not surprisingly, the American public didn't like selling oil to a country that was invading everyone in sight and butchering hundreds of thousands.

Finally, after one invasion too many, the US stopped selling oil to Japan.  Which put them in a hard position - Japan has no domestic oil to speak of, and no oil, no modern society, and particularly no rapid military expansion.  So they had to go capture more natural resources.  They thought that doing so would cause the US to attack them, so they preemptively hit the fleet at Pearl.

So really the Right hasn't changed.  They were hammering FDR for continuing to sell oil to Japan in order to keep the peace, and then when he stopped selling oil to Japan, they hammered him for causing Japan to go to war with the US.

I used it quite effectively when I was part of a fairly big convention.  Anytime there was an event that people might have wanted to know about - a tournament starting soon, a speech or workshop or other event starting, just general reminders about con rules we saw being broken, an occasional "hey, have fun but remember while you're here to shower daily and use deodorant!" - we tweeted it.

It's really quite useful for getting small amounts of information out to specific groups of people in a very timely manner.  It's terrible otherwise.

No wars, especially not the war we've been in the longest in our history
Single-payer health care
Same-sex marriage legal in all states
Abortion easily available in all states, treated as the private medical decision that it is
A thriving middle class and ever-shrinking poverty numbers
No banking economic crash
A balance between military and domestic program spending
Incentives to retain jobs in this country instead of off-shoring
A compassionate immigration program
A well-supported education system applied equally across the country and stringent home-schooling requirements
Student loan reform
Campaign financing reform
Sane and balanced gun control

This is part of the "Sticking it to the Libs derangement syndrome" which seems to prevalent amongst them.  EVERYTHING is political no matter how innocuous it is in real life.  Notice the "tweeter" didn't even have a legitimate thing to criticize her about so they started throwing strawman after strawman at her.

Remember when they criticized President Obama for drinking an "unAmerican beer" in Yuengling, which is the oldest American owned brewery?

In reality this is why congress is so farked up because these same type people were put there.  Instead of dickish tweets, they are dickishly obstructing anything President Obama proposes.

Yeah.  I also seriously doubt he is/was against U.S. involvement in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the surge of the Republican led half-assed effort in Afghanistan, because GW had to go on an unnecessary and expensive nation building mission in Iraq (after being elected saying he wouldn't "nation build").

I do find it interesting how conservatives will find (or embellish) actions by Democratic politicians which traditionally Liberals frown on but conservatives celebrate, in order to criticize the Democratic politician.  Notice they never criticize the policy, just the person doing it because they actually agree with the policy. You see it with the NSA spying.  How many times have you heard that while Republicans started it but that is OK, it only became a bad thing when President Obama took over.  Meanwhile "liberals" don't like it period.  Liberals want it scaled back, conservatives just want a Republican POTUS running it.  It is obvious by the conservative response to President Obama wanting to scale it back.  He gets accused of compromising national security by conservatives.

Ah, the mods saw fit for double coverage on this one. It is on the politics tab also.

Lucky LaRue: Flaumig: Lucky LaRue: Wow.. Must be a slow week in politics if the liberal echo chamber is abuzz over this.

Just stay the f*ck off his lawn and move on, ok?

No, really. Explain to me where your outrage is being manufactured, because no normal person can get this worked up over a twitter rant. It's MSNBC, isn't it? I bet Maddow has explained to you how this is just the first salvo in an attack against your freedoms and liberties... It's got to be something along those lines - I refuse to believe that people are spontaniously as bat-shiat crazy as the posting in this thread without being egged on.

Publikwerks: Listen, there is plenty of room at the Habs hating table for both parties.

PK just fell to the ground holding his knee after you posted that, now you get to sit in the box for two minutes, you goon.

the GOP has a huge 'hole' in its stomach.  it knows that Hillary will win in 2016 and no amount of money spent is going to chance that.

they feel a sense of doom.

Man...  This whole thing would be so much easier for Scott Brown if Shaheen was Native American.

You do that, you go to the box, you know. Two minutes, by yourself, you know and you feel shame, you know. And then you get free.

hubiestubert: I guess they could have complained bitterly at the Senator not congratulating her own state's team...

Except that the Manchester Monarchs are currently 1-1 with the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL quarterfinals.

You know, looking at the twitter feed, I think NH GOP secretly love her. I mean, I think I found one tweet not about her.

Well, I think I figured it out. The NH GOP is confused. Apparently, the director of Corporate Partnerships for the Boston Bruins is named "Scott Brown" and the GOP probably thought it was the same Scott Brown and needed to defend his turf. Or something. :)

It's just more conservative projection.  They're the farking masters at pitching a pissy-fit over the slightest thing ("Someone just said Season's Greetings...OMG IT'S THE WAR ON CHRISTMAS AND THE HERALD OF THE END TIMES FOR CHRISTIANITY AS WE KNOW IT"), so they assume if a liberal says anything negative about a conservative's behavior, they must be outraged.  It's kind of sad, really.  I can't imagine what it's like going through life with only two settings: obsequious or enraged.
