Haha Dana and Jones acting as if scoring a win for Gus would be insane

That was a very close fight that could have gone either way and denying that is just silly

Yeah.  Gus did really well until he gassed.  I had it for Jones, but a few different breaks in one round and it could have gone to Gustaffson

In fairness, Davis brought that on himself.

When you accuse the champ of "ducking" you and then get obliterated by a non-top-10 fighter in the division, you're gonna get some payback.

$45K to test two guys?  WTF???!!!!

ouch.  45 k for a test.  gotta be a cheaper way.  Maybe if it becomes routine, the price will drop.

Pretty good night of fights.  Looks like the next event will be Bellator 118 on Friday night,  Next UFC is in two weeks, UFC Fight Night 40 on May 10th.

I'm assuming the labs that do it (and I assume the 45K for two guys was for really high-end tests) don't get a lot of business, so they jack the price way up.  I would think with increased business, refining procedures, etc, it might get to a manageable level.

In the meantime, get random samples and test only a portion of them.  You'll never know when yours is the one getting tested, so the incentive to stay clean is there.  Beats the system of people knowing when they will be tested, so they can cycle around it.

It would be insane to score 2-4-5 for Gustafsson, and Jones might have even taken 1. Go back and watch it in context, it only seems close to most because Jones doesn't look superhuman. One of those times where outperforming expectations leaves a bigger impression than it should.

Lumbar Puncture: violentsalvation: Skyrmion: violentsalvation: Lumbar Puncture: violentsalvation: Pretty dominant but I wish big Dan Mirgliota would have taken a point for that strong arm fingers in the face shiat. Hell, Dan could have taken a point for that every round and made this a draw.

Yeah, I was surprised by how often Jones kept doing that even after warnings and eye poke.  I thought maybe since Glover is bald he was trying to rub his head for good luck?  Don't know but he should've been docked at some point for it.

It was bad, I mean Jon Jones can dictate the range his opponent fights at with his freaking elbows, he doesn't need to be eyepoking to keep someone like Glover out.

The whole stiff-arm thing has always been a huge part of Jones' defense. It would actually hamper his style significantly to stop doing it.

I've never noticed it being as bad as it was tonight, the refs need to start taking points when his hand is open.

Me either.  Unless his style has changed to Talk-To-The-Hand Fu he normally doesn't spend so much of the fight trying to pick the other fighter's nose.

Its ALWAYS been his style and his range gauge. It's just that Glover is the first fighter to either not immediately bat it away or let him actually hold his forehead back like an older brother does to his smaller sibling. Blame Glover for bad movement.

Exactly. If you're going to go the Chael Sonnen route of self-promotion, you have to be willing to take it when you lose. Sonnen had the humility to stand there and take it while SIlva invited him to a barbeque.

My only doubt about Jones was if his size was making him look better than his technique or heart warranted. The Gus fight answered that question for me. I'm a big Gus fan, but I have no idea how people think he won that fight. Jones didn't dominate, but he won convincingly.

Also, on a side note, I'm going to start watching these with the sound off. I love Rogan and Goldberg, but they've become unlistenable. Joe gets too convinced that his analysis is objective fact, and Goldberg has started to spend too much time reading wiki pages and not calling the action. Joe actually has to interrupt him to do play-by-play.

Pretty much. There isn't a case to be made that Gustafsson won 3 rounds of that fight, but there is a case for giving Jones 4. How people think Gus won that fight is beyond me, outperforming expectations is the only thing that makes sense.

It's all contextual.

Jones has been such a farking unstoppable machine thus far that any apparent weakness in his strategy turns into the sky falling.

Jones/Gustafsson II is going to be brutal, though. Jones will probably squeak out a victory, but Gus is going to come to the fight full of piss and vinegar.

Prediction: They're both going to look like aborted fetuses by the end of the bout.
