Delta's new first seats look pretty cool...they're rolling them out this year and next for NY to LAX flights..and eventually having them for long haul USA flights.

Tho you'd still have to crawl over someone if they're in the sleeping position.

They're good everywhere and anywhere.  Especially on Saints Sundays!  Its a breakfast/lunch in vodka.  Kinda hard to have a problem with that.

Often times Asians have very whitebread American first names?

Also, it looks like she had a nosebleed all over the bed.

Also it's her hooker name, cause Asian prostitute.

If you are tired of the same old bloody mary you can try the different alcohol variants.

Bloody Maria-Tequilla
Bloody Murder- Gin
Bloody Derby- Bourbon
Bloody Molly- Irish Whiskey
Brown Mary-Scotch Whisky(although I consider mixing fine whisky an abomination)
Bloody Færie- Absinthe
Bloody Shame- no alcohol(blasphemy!)

It's the thin air which dulls your taste buds, not the engine. That's why airline foods are over-salted.

The tomato juice helps the blood stay thin and the vodka dilates the blood vessels. Bloody Marys are perfect for flying.

Because I'm usually hungover / still drunk when I board the aircraft?

Whatever the reason(s), they do taste great on a plane, maybe even worth the chewing out I got from my boss from having one on a flight to SLC.

I've never had tomato juice on a plane and was baffled by everyone ordering it on my last flight. I like it on occasion while not flying and almost never see anyone drink it.

Does it really taste that much better in the air?

I don't know why, but for years I have always asked for tomato juice while flying. I never drink it at home, ever. I never buy it. I never think about it. But for some reason I always ask for it from the beverage cart. Not even a bloody mary, just plain tomato juice. No idea why.

Same for me.

Sometimes have the nonalcoholic Bloody Mary with a decent amount of tabasco.

I don't agree that it tastes best in the air.  It's good because they use a decent mix, which makes it nigh impossible to screw up especially with absolute or whatever that is far superior to Taaka.  But it pales to a solid hand mixed one or even Zing Zang mix.  They do feel appropriate on planes.   I usually stick to ginger ale though, unless I got upgraded to first and have free drinks.

Bloody Beer (aka redneck bloody Mary)

Bloody Mary Mix
8 oz vegetable juice (yes, vegetable)
1 oz worcestershire sauce
A few cranks of fresh black pepper
1/2 teaspoon grated horseradish
Juice from 1/4 lime
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
A few splashes of Tapatio hot sauce, to taste
Adjust all flavors to taste

Mix a little ahead of time to let the flavors develop, then add 1 part mix to 3 parts of a cold, clean, light beer.

Never understood the love for Bloody Marys. I guess I don't see the point of drinking  shrimp cocktail sauce  (  or salsa depending on whether they use peppers instead of horsradish ) mixed with vodka.
Why not just serve it with a bowl of tortilla chips?

I think it's just a myth that no one minds. I bet the good people at Del-monte,Campbells, Heinz etc appreciate it very much.

It seems more likely it's psychological. Food tastes better if you haven't eaten in a couple of days. Beer tastes better after a hard day working in a field. Tomato juice tastes better when you're traveling in an unfamiliar way.
So does orange juice. So does a soft drink.

It's not the atmosphere ( though I admit, I've never sampled "essence of jet fuel" outside of an airplane ) or pressure...
Airplanes are required to keep cabin pressures no lower than the pressure present at 8,000 feet.

A good experiment might be to go to high altitude city like Denver or Telluride Colorado an see if Tomato juice tastes better there.

2014-04-26 11:58:48 AM
Quite the opposite, subby. Altitude is reliant.

They're cool and delicious and they taste especially good when you're hung over.

Besides, a good mary does not taste like salsa OR cocktail sauce.

Tomatoes are also rich in umami and their core, which we normally throw away...

What the fark is a tomato core and who throws it away?

Nah, he was just saying that wasn't the thing to do when meeting with Mormons. Whatever they were selling we didn't want or need, anyway.

THIS

Hemingway Bloody Mary Recipe
Recipe:
To a large pitcher (anything smaller is "worthless") add:
1 chunk of ice (the biggest that will fit)
1 pint of vodka
1 pint chilled tomato juice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 jigger fresh lime juice
Pinch celery salt
Pinch cayenne pepper
Pinch black pepper
Several drops of Tabasco
"Keep on stirring and taste it to see how it is doing. If you gets it too powerful weaken with more tomato juice. If it lacks authority add more vodka."
From a letter to Bernard Peyton signed
April 5, 1947 by Ernest Hemingway

Notice there is no horse radish and no cilantro.

Every Bloody Mary mix I've ever seen on commercial flights is "Mr. & Mrs. T's"  There is so much freaking corn syrup in that shiat - I find the sweetness to be pretty gross, so I've never found myself wondering why Bloody Marys taste so good when I'm flying.
