They only count as onion rings if you batter and deep fry them. Otherwise they are slices of onions.

The onions are sliced into rings aren't they?

Bless you subby, I'll make these this weekend.

May I be the first to point out that these are gluten free?

I would accept them as onion rings.  They would be welcome on my table.

I was really hopping on the comment to make a point about that breadcrumb crap on "traditional" rings.

I prefer the ones with the breadcrumby crust. They're crubchier than the battered ones.

I can think of no reason that these, after finishing in the smoker, could not be coated in batter and fried.  No. Reason. At. All.

They're only 1/2" of onion and then whatever extra is added by the wrapped bacon.  A baker's dozen maybe?

Looks sort of what I do to make bacon-wrapped hotdogs.  Have to consider now maybe putting condiments on the dog and then wrapping the bacon around it.
And yes, these rings look amazing.

A few weeks ago I had my first bacon-wrapped banana.  Delicious.  I had as many as decorum allowed.  Yes, bacon truly can improve anything.  Not that onions need improving, but wrapped in bacon, slathered with Srirachi and pepper and grilled -- sounds like a plan.

+1 Internets for quoting the Great Sam Jackson, but -2 Internets for using that quote in this thread. This thread is all about the bacon loving.

Roast a Dozen or so medium sized chili peppers. (Wash them, don't cut them open, just rub them in olive oil and salt, and roast at 350f for about 10 minutes, you don't want them too soft)

Make a cream cheese filling (cream cheese, roast garlic, chives and onion powder bacon bits and an egg per pound of Cheese. Whatever else you want, really. Be creative)

Allow the chilies to cool, then pipe the cream cheese mixture in them, using a pastry bag or a Ziploc with a small hole cut in a corner.

Wrap the chiles in thin sliced raw bacon. Back into the oven they go until they are crispy and deliciousness.

You could dust them in chipoltle powder and parmesan too.
