(The Raw Story)   SC candidate for LT. governor proposes ending public education in the state because "we don't see anything in the Bible about state education." Am I the only one who REALLY doesn't want to see his ideas for reforming the judicial system?   (rawstory.com) divider line 264

I'm sorry to be all unconstitutional, but there should be a religious mental test to hold office.

2014-04-25 01:53:17 PM
FTFA: He has encouraged Christian families to withdraw their children from public schools and educate them at home or enroll them in religious schools

Because that IS in the Bible. Right next to "the private market has a solution to everything" and "slavery is okay." Jesus Himself said it on the Mount. Wonderful, blonde haired, blue-eyed Jesus.

Moore has previously claimed that 40 percent of public school students turn away from the church by the end of elementary school and 80 percent by the end of high school.

If that were true, why is Christianity still such a big thing in this country?

2014-04-25 01:57:18 PM
Not that he's advocating a theocracy. He's just got strong moral principles. Principles originated by semi-nomadic sheep herders 3000 years ago and perverted over the centuries by a rigid, power-grabbing priest-class eager to control the masses.

You know, strong Christian Principles.

Shhhhh! You'll spook them!

I never cease to be amazed at the depth and earnestness of some in their desire to return to a past that never existed.

It's truly impressive.

the Bible also isn't the book of law for the United States, so why are we referencing it?

If we use his logic, we need to get rid of our political system as well.

/someone needs to explain to him that biblical Jesus is a socialist

South Carolina and Lieutenant Governors aren't in the Bible, either, so I'm not sure what he's doing associating with them.

Can't we just wall off the South, rename it Tardfarkistan, and call it good?

But not the principles advocated by that hippie Francis. You know, the Papist.

Child disputes will likely be very messy

The good news is we found a talking jackass

Isn't there something called separation of church and state? I'm pretty sure you can't use the Bible as a reference on how to run the government
/though since when has anyone given a shiat about that
//everyone who argues against anything starts pulling the "the Bible says that's bad!" bullshiat, like everyone else is supposed to care

2014-04-25 02:33:16 PM
The bible doesn't mention not running over someone's balls with a steam roller.

2014-04-25 02:33:39 PM
But, let's not belittle or mock him, guys. They don't like it when we get "smug".

I do not feel obliged to believe the the same God who endowed us with Sense, Reason, and Intellect had also intended us to forego their use.

-Galileo Galilei.

/I literally facepalmed while reading that article.

The Christian idea of heaven is exactly the same as Nazi Germany's perfect society.  At least Hitler had the balls to put his plan into action instead of waiting around for God to do it for him.

2014-04-25 02:34:38 PM
You know what else isn't in the Bible? The United States. Perhaps he should withdraw himself from that institution as well.

2014-04-25 02:34:40 PM
Just say it!

We want the n*ggers back working the fields.

2014-04-25 02:34:41 PM
You don't see anything about oranges in the Bible either, you dumb shiat.

/This is too much derp.

2014-04-25 02:34:43 PM
People like this make me love constitutionally protected free speech just a little bit less.  It ought not be so easy for a candidate with such blatant hostility towards our secular system of government and laws to run for public office.

2014-04-25 02:35:04 PM
FTA: "Then the states would then negotiate, perhaps taking out of their constitution platform, or the provision, that says the state had to provide education, and it would gradually be handed over to churches, families, and private associations," Moore said. "That's the way it was for the first 200 years of American history."

Hmmmm:
Wikipedia says: By the year 1870, all states had free elementary schools

I guess he is only off by 100 years or so.

2014-04-25 02:35:25 PM
Not any worse than South Carolina's current LG, who has openly endorsed a restoration of slavery.

2014-04-25 02:36:12 PM
if you're going to take the Bible literally you probably shouldn't be allowed to pick and choose what parts you like...

2014-04-25 02:36:16 PM
Ray Moore, a retired Army Reserves chaplain and president of Frontline Ministries, sketched out ...

possibly every American who ever understood the concept of separation of church and state.

Just think what it'll be like when these ass clowns get their hands on Obamacare.  I'm going to laugh and laugh and laugh when all the leftists that love it find out just how horrific it can be when the government is in control of your very life.

Religious schools were the model for the first 200 years of this country? Did I wake up in some alternative reality? Public education was part of our original state constitution back in 1816.

I guess we can't let little things like facts or reality get in the way of a good rant.

2014-04-25 02:37:00 PM
We don't see anything in the Bible about freedom, either.

It wouldn't be Friday without the obligatory anti-Christian thread.  You poor Farkers have been such victims of such severe Christian oppression over the years...

It's not the government that's the problem, it's the pants on head retarded candidates that the right keeps electing.

Yeah, they will try to ban gay marriage, make abortions illegal, disregard the separation of church and state, and send you to prison for ingesting a plant. Can you imagine! It will be so much different!

Oh wait.

2014-04-25 02:39:55 PM
The Bible didn't mention the United State of South Carolina having a Lt. Governor's office to run for.  I think we all know what he must do.

Yes, or set off some very deep explosions along the border to see if it will detach and slide into the Atlantic.   Georgia needs more coastal land.  Either now or in 25 years when the ice caps melt.

Ironically I often use that very biblical passage to prove to some of my more fundamentalist acquaintance that  Jesus Christ himself who was one of the first people ever recorded articulating the principle of exasperation of Church and state, and if'n he was fer it, they should be too

"exasperation" of Church and state...motherfarking autocorrect....though I kinda do like that phrase and need to work it in to conversations henceforth

If he had paid attention in the high school math he wants to destroy, he'd realize how ridiculous his 80% number is.  How many generations have been publicly schooled, each one reducing the church population by 80%?

You don't have to pass an IQ test to be in the senate though.
