Colbert is having a battle of wits with unarmed men.  It doesn't seem fair.  But I don't seem to care.

The moment Bundy uttered, "I don't believe the United States government even exists," that should have been Hannity's cue to realize that hitching your wagon to this crazy old coot was going to end in disaster.

I can't muster up any sympathy.

Palin's very first TV interview should have been a warning sign also but we all know what happened with that.

But that was the fault of Katie Couric. Palin came prepared for thoughtful, intellectual questions. Couric threw Palin off her game by asking a bunch of softball questions.

When one considers the deeds of said men it's more than fair, it is too kind by half. But then Mr. Colbert is a good person so he will never give them the cruel treatment they have earned.

No, he isn't. Really. He's just a simple rancher, the common clay of the New West.

The Greatest Republican Hero? Wasn't that the show where Karl Rove receives a special suit from a dying alien in the Texas brush that allows him to elect any man President of the United States, but the alien dies before he can give Rove instructions that it's dangerous to use when the candidate has an IQ of 80 and can't even eat a pretzel without choking, so Rove gives the suit to George Bush? Cause that show was AWESOME!!!

He probably buys into some asinine theory that the government was "dissolved" at some point and that the government that now exists isn't the one created by the Constitution.

He'd have to go back a ways to find one that didn't have the feds having dominion over the states. George Washington led the Federal Army to crush the Whiskey Rebellion which is similar to Bundy's non tax paying situation.

That's the part about the Founding Fathers often forgotten while THEY (heh) keep going on about returning to our founding principles. :D We lurves us some Washington... at least, the myth we have in our heads that no one today lives up to!

A racist criminal rancher, a murderer, a lying small-business non-owner, and a millionaire pretending to be a poor white trash yokel, all banging a hagged-out dimwitted barbie with delusions of grandeur?  That's better than a hundred NASCAR cars filled with crude oil and automatic weapons slamming into illegal immigrants at a gay pride parade on Nancy Pelosi's front lawn!

One small correction to your excellent post - it wasn't the Army, because the United States had no standing army. It was the federalized militias of four states!

"Sovereign Citizens" have always amused me in the same way as toddlers. It's like playing "peek-a-boo" with them in that they think "I don't see the government, therefore they don't see me."
