Can't we all just agree that the negroes would be better off being actual slaves, picking cotton in the fields of plantations down south instead of being welfare slaves? I mean, come on.

His words:

I thought about what Reverend Martin Luther King said. I thought about Rosa Park taking her seat at the front of the bus. Reverend Martin Luther King did not want her to take her seat in the front of the bus. That wasn't what he was talking about. He did not say go to the front of the bus and that's where your seat was. What Reverend King wanted was that she could sit anywhere in the bus and nobody would say anything about it. You and I can sit anywhere in the bus. That's what he wanted. That's what I want. I want her to be able to sit anywhere in the bus and I want to be able to sit by her any where in that bus. That's what he wanted. He didn't want this prejudice thing like the media tried to put on me yesterday. I'm not going to put up with that because that's not what he wanted. That's not what I want. I want to set by her anywhere on that bus and I want anybody to be able to do the same thing. That's what he was after, it's not a prejudice thing, but make us equal.

I took this boot off so I wouldn't put my foot in my mouth with the boot on. Let me see if I can say something. Maybe I sinned and maybe I need to ask forgiveness and maybe I don't know what I actually said. But you know when you talk about prejudice, we're talking about not being able to exercise what we think and our feelings. We're not freedom - we don't have freedom to say what we want. If I call - if I say 'negro' or 'black boy' or 'slave,' I'm - If those people cannot take those kind of words and not be offensive, then Martin Luther King hasn't got his job done yet. They should be able to - I should be able to say those things and they shouldn't offend anybody. I didn't mean to offend them.

Forget his views on 'the negro'. Can we get back to the real reason this idiot should be incarcerated? He's refusing to pay for what he took. He's broken one of the 10 commandments. He's broken the law. He's neither christian nor patriotic.

I wonder if anyone's considered the possibility that Mr. Bundy is actually a deep-cover liberal operative whose objective was to create a situation on a topic near and dear to conservatives' hearts (i.e., land management and Federal overreach), get as many notable voices on his side as possible, and then rapidly make a series of over-the-top statements designed to completely embarrass and shame them. It's worth pointing out that Ted Turner, a deep-pocketed liberal donor and founder of CNN, Fox News' chief rival, also has many thousands of acres of grazeland out west. It's also worth noting that this is an election year and Bundy's foe paws all just happen to be taking place while key primaries are being decided. Take this operation alongside the recent "revelations" about Vance McAllister "kissing" his aide on security camera (revelations that some believe were made by liberal operatives working in his made), and what we may be seeing is an escalation by the Democratic/liberal/progressive party into an almost Cold War-esque level of subterfuge, espionage, and black operations.

I honestly have absolutely no idea how you do that. It makes me feel tiny sometimes.

Moreover, he's refused to pay or honor the multiple judgments against him. Footage also shows him and his militia buddies pointing firearms at (federal) BLM agents.

This man needs, in no uncertain terms, to be taken to prison. Not jail, but prison. His land and herd should be confiscated and auctioned and he needs to be imprisoned.

As repulsive and indefensible as his pro-slavery position is, it still has absolutely nothing to do with cattle grazing fees or the BLM.  This is simply a distraction.

He shouldn't be allowed to use federal lands for grazing for free for 20 goddamn years simply because he doesn't believe that the federal government is actually a thing.

I think Cliven Bundy was trying to say is that he and blacks have something in common - that in each case they are the victims of an ever-expanding, overreaching, out-of-control federal government.  He is trying to articulate a conservative, small-government message.  He just lacks the education to explain it right.

2014-04-25 12:57:10 PM
Yeah, its purely coincidence that an old white cowboy in an armed standoff with the federal government also just happens to be a racist!

True, but since his freeloading on government lands in violation of the law for 20 years is also indefensible, but much less funny, this is more worthy of mockery.

I didn't say he should be able to graze cattle on federal land for free.  I didn't say they should point their guns at the BLM.

I don't think a law should be changed in such a way that it effectively drives an individual out of business, either, though, like suddenly setting draconian acreage and cattle limits that would drive to bankruptcy what was a viable, functional business.  Especially when you originally promised that business you wouldn't do so.

Amazingly his neighbors are still capable of being cattle rancher while following the laws. This Hero of the Republic has actually increased his heard quite a bit while not paying for the land he needs to feed them.

There is no defense here, he's a racist old coot and a thief.

Who promised him anything?  There is a drought, there isn't enough forage to go around and supply and demand makes prices higher.  No other business is guaranteed fixed prices at below market cost, why should he be?

I never cared much for the welfare freeloader in the first place.

That said, he is the comedy gold vein that keeps on giving.

How deep is he going to dig his grave? Another 20 feet or more?

And if it weren't a "Sorry you were offended" republican BS line(without actually being an apology, strictly speaking), that'd be exactly what I was doing.

People thinking being offended grants them rights are obnoxious.  They think their feelings deny you the rights to words.  People demanding you not be offended by offensive things are worse.  They think their words deny you rights to feelings.
