the weird thing? She may be the only politician who says she isn't running for president, means it (and clearly gets pissed when she keeps getting asked by the media) and still has throngs of fans begging her to run.

That's the brilliance of this tactical move:  honestly not running for President!  There is now way she can't get the nomination!

Or she could just go William Tecumseh Sherman, "If nominated I will not run, if elected I will not serve" and then sack and burn the South from Atlanta to the Sea.

/That would be awesome!

Maybe, just maybe, she's working to build alliances in the Senate to reinstall Glass-Steagall and get other critically needed financial regulations passed.

If she doesn't run Bernie will. I don't think he'll win, but he will pull the primary conversation to the left, which is very good for middle class Americans.

Neither is anyone else at this point.

But all of the handicappers say she's the Democrat who's got the most actual support, after Hillary Clinton.

...and Clinton's getting pretty old, with known health issues.

Warren's only 2 years younger than Clinton, so if Clinton's too old, so is Warren...

From Wikipedia: "Profiles in Courage is a 1957 Pulitzer Prize-winning volume of short biographies describing acts of bravery and integrity by eight United States Senators throughout the Senate's history."

It was written BY Kennedy, but not ABOUT Kennedy.

fair point. Then I alter my question: When did you have to write a book in order to run for president start?

Do people actually read these books? Who is buying all this tripe?

qorkfiend:
Warren's only 2 years younger than Clinton, so if Clinton's too old, so is Warren...

But Warren didn't faint and hit her head, causing a concussion so severe it prevented her from testifying before Congress.

Sudden and unexplained fainting is a really bad sign in the elderly, and the concussion alone is pretty scary for someone that age.

Basically, Warren is getting set up in case Hillary goes downhill really fast over the next year or so...

Campaigns, under "educational materials". Which is why Warren better run if she wants any decent sales.

Does she have a chapter where she talks about how it was growing up as a poor native american?

We need more people like Warren and Sanders in Congress.

The morons can make all the indian jokes they want, but Warren consistently hits the nail on the head with regards to the plutocracy that is the United States.

She's got my vote when she's up for reelection, any way.

Bernie Sanders is not a Democrat.  He's an independent, which is why I can't see him running for the Democratic nominee for President (although there's been some talk of such)-and if he ran as an indie, see Florida, 2000, for the likely result.

The more she doesn't try, the more people think she's trying.  The best way to make people believe a rumor is to deny it strongly.

Clearly this book is just step 29575.78, part 3, phase 8 in the secret plan.

I think that if he does decide to run, he'd want to participate in the Democratic primary debates in a bid to shift the general discourse of the Democratic Party to the left.

Fully agree that running as an independent would be counter-productive.

I believe one has to be registered as a Democrat to run in a Democratic primary for any office including President.  He can't run as a Democrat without formally becoming one first.

I don't know that that's true. Bernie already caucuses with the Democrats. Running in their primary doesn't seem like a giant leap from there. But I'm not an expert.

I think what really riles them up is that no one in the Commonwealth gave a shiat about the "controversy" except for Scott Brown and his supporters... And they made complete asses out of themselves trying to make it into a thing.

So they can make all tge snarky comments they want... But they better get used to her being their Senator for the foreseeable future. And that makes this Masshole smile.

I would prefer Warren over Clinton. I would prefer Biden over Clinton. I would prefer almost any Democrat over Clinton. And yet I would prefer Clinton or indeed any Democrat over any Republican I would vote for "The Rent's Too High" guy over the reincarnation of Albert Einstein, if he ran as a Republican. Because membership in the Republican Party is now ipso facto proof either of moral or intellectual failure. I'll cut a little slack for anyone born before 1966--they get grandfathered in, because the Republican turn to the dark side was not blatantly apparent until near the end of Reagan's first term . Younger than that, you are either actively evil or densely stupid.

Caucusing with the Democrats quite different than running in a Democratic primary.

yup. How hilarious would it be if Brown lost this election against Shaheen and decided to go all in with a presidential run against Warren?
