Yes, that's how long it will take for a final script

4 band members, 4 actresses I've never heard of.

Perhaps they could get Alissa White-Gluz for one of the Misfits.

Dude honestly?  I just said that a couple hours ago to my ex that loved Jem.......wow.

That's kind of interesting. Last night one of my facebook friends posted that he had been cast in the movie. I can't imagine what kind of role a mid-thirties man would have in this film, but he seemed pretty excited about it.

20 minutes ago I finished watching Tokarev, the new Cage movie that's as good as you think it is. Jem actress played his daughter. She did look hot in the scene where he picked her up from school, and she looked too young in every other scene. So I say good choice!

Season 1 or 2?

What I remember most about Jem besides the theme song is that it seemed more like a soap than a cartoon. There were adult situations and the guys were abusive and had ponytails.

I don't remember much music, either.  Though my exposure to it was very minimal.

AverageAmericanGuy: Aren't there any cartoons that kids watch today that could be made into movies?

Not so much. Cartoons aren't quite as big now as they were in the 80's. Saturday mornings and after school programming were packed with 3hr blocks of original cartoons on major networks that got pretty good ratings. Albeit most were made to sell toys, but perhaps the toys are what helped ingrain the shows in our memories.

Today Cartoon Network still makes plenty of content, but many of their shows are so off the wall they don't translate into movies, e.g. imagine trying to make Adventure Time into a live action movie.

I think there's a big untapped market in bringing anime to live action movies. For whatever reason, not much has been done on this front.

It was tried, but it had the same problems as early superhero movies: Can't be done on the cheap.

I mean, have you seen the live action "Fist of the North Star" flick?

I just had an idea about how the Friday the 13th reboot could be successful.

I haven't, but there seem to be plenty of good stories to be told, and aside from the effects laden mech based anime, many seem to be doable with a modest budget.

I don't know why Fist of the North Star would be that hard to make, lots of cost in gore I'd imagine, but in capable hands I think it could be done well for around 30-40mill.

Also, the 80s kids shows were crappily animated toy commercials, so they can be improved by live action. Adapting a well done anime makes as much sense as a live action version of Bugs Bunny. You'd lose a lot of the charm by taking away the animation.

Yeah, let's see, the creator of Jem isn't involved, the shooting schedule looks like a Richard Corman movie...yeah this is gonna suck.

Also apparently the Gatchaman live action movie is never going to go anywhere. That would be Battle of the Planets/G-Force/Eagle Riders for Ameircans.

Considering the source material, I thought it came out pretty decent.  The only thing about the original show I liked was the Mach 5.. and I guess Racer X.

Speed Racer was actually pretty awesome. The rave scenes on Blu-Ray on a big TV are amazing eye candy.

The same could be said about superhero comics. A lot of anime movies tend towards the realistic, so I'd see no problem with e.g. an Akira movie, at least technically (high expectations are another issue, but tha's not specific to anime).

For anime series it might be different, if you're doing something with hammerspace or oversized sweat drops, you'd basically be going the Scott Pilgrim route -- if you're lucky.

/And you'd get complaints from the neckbeards who can't imagine their favorite waifus in 3D....

Let us not speak of the live action Hokuto no Ken movie, please. Chris Penn as Jagi? Costas Mandaylor as Shin? Who the hell cast this?

I'm curious as to what you were expecting, then.  I thought it was a fine live-action update. Maybe they needed to show long continuous side shots of the car with a repeating background or something.

According to Hasbro, they exist in the same universe.

You know Master of the Universe never got a proper live action movie, despite Dolph Lundgren rocking it as He-Man.
