I think the first place I saw a Subway with bulletproof aquarium was just south of Warren, Michigan, in about 2004.

A recent "Parts Unknown" had Bourdain visit a BBQ place with bulletproof glass. I can't remember if it was Detroit or New Orleans, though.

I forgot whom I'm supposed to blame here. Is it the black liberal nazi communo-fascist usurper who lived in Chicago, or the liberal Jew who is running the place right now? Or both? Can I get a free spin on the Wheel Of Outrage?

Thanks, Obama Rahm Oprah!

I've been to multiple fast food joints in LA w/ bullet proof glass and push box drive through windows, for years. How snowflakey is subby, anyway?

welcome to the 70's subby

This is because of tourists asking for ketchup on their hot dogs.

So has Baltimore.  At the KFC you get your food through a bullet proof turntable so that you never get a direct shot at the staff.  The liquor store down the street had enough protection you'd feel safe using it to store a safe deposit box.

More like how retarded is having bulletproof glass installed everywhere instead of adressing the root problems of upward mobility and urban decay?

It's repugnant.

So people working at fast food joints should just get shot at while we all try and fix poverty once and for all?

You've got to be farking kidding me.

If I walked in a restaurant that had some shiat like that, I'd turn around and walk out.  I'm not giving them my money.

At least 9 dead, 44 wounded in Chicago shootings last weekend, with arguably the toughest gun laws in the nation. Zero gun stores and no provision to let private citizens carry guns anywhere in the state. I'm not saying making guns easier to legally obtain will somehow make it safer, I am saying mass legislation is not changing the interior mental attitude's of these murderer's who don't even observe existence of laws over them, so casting a huge net of government laws on the entire populace is a bureaucratic waste of time and money, these  animals people are at the lowest rungs of psychological development and tribal warfare is of more importance to them than producing any type of good in the world. Until they can develop the ability to transcend outdated evolutionary egocentric attitudes (which is applauded in many mainstream areas of american pop and hip-hop culture and accepted or just ignored by everyone else because of naivete or political correctness or not wanting to sound racist) then nessacery mental qualities such as compassion and empathy cannot emerge. And yes i think the culture is dropping the ball on this one.

Just in the worst areas, so it makes sense. Doubt you'd be seeing bulletproof glass at restaurants in Lincoln Park, Downtown, Lakeview, etc.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaagh, as much as I love and miss Chicago, I'm glad I got out. I really have no intention of moving back (definitely will visit my crew back home though). A friend of mine offered to let me stay rent free a few weeks ago, but it's on 75th and Cottage, so HELL FARKING NO! Bored as hell here, but at least it's a lot cheaper, far less gangs and shootings, and the job market is way better. Damn, though, I miss Chicago. Now I know how war refugees feel, lol (not really at all, but ya know?)!

To the worst of my knowledge, no part of Dallas is that bad. Hell, in a part of Fair Park you might take as scraping the bottom, William's Family fried chicken has a 24/7 joint. Or maybe there's just respect for the place. Anyhow, I try to be out of the county by nightfall. The parts you'd feel safe driving in are more or less shut down for construction after 9pm.

2014-04-25 01:40:55 AM
Had these on the southside of Chicago for decades...late 80s I can remember them.  Get some Jamaican Jerk Chicken and hang out on the beach around 79th street.  Good times.

Well, no.

Japan has this solved too. 3000 years of totalitarianism sorts shiat out.

Y'see, ticket machines. I go in, feed a vending machine my money, and get a ticket. You take the ticket, gimme my fast food. Book it, done. You wanna rob the store? The machine ain't even inside the store. It's on the street. Take it. It's insured.

Try living without a "tribe" on the south side of Chicago before you denigrate it.  These people are making a choice, that in many cases keeps them alive.  They don't have the luxury of police protection in most cases.  You know what they used to say in the 90s on the south side of Chicago?  If you saw a police officer with his lights on.  Follow him.  He was going away from the trouble because he was probably outgunned.

Still holds true that Chicago has very strict gun laws. But I doubt that the strictness of the gun laws are the reason for the high rates of gun violence. It is, however, still a "thing" that's worth discussing.

Ok, I am aware of the "these people are doing this to survive" argument and that is a complete cop out and it doesn't appear to be working for them or any innocent bystanders. The thug mentality itself is the problem, I can understand how that can be seductive to the point of unavoidance for those children growing up in it, that's why I am saying it's the entire culture's fault that propagates and encourages this mentality. They are the one's perpetuating this anti-social narcissistic destructive attitude that is turning it's adherents into cancer's of the human collective. I'm asking you to take a step back and look at it from a wider and honest perspective without any cultural baggage or filtering you may already have.

Your information is out of date. The state of Illinois enacted a "shall-issue" based concealed weapons permit system last year, and the first permits were issued in early March. Chicago police have already reported a legally justified use of a firearm in public by a permit holder.

/Clearly, the bulletproof partitions were installed to protect from permit holders.

I really should get on one of those CC carry license, but it's not really even worth it considering I have to take the CTA everywhere and thus barred from carrying
