Yeah, put your kid up to a PR gimmick.

Good for her! Hope her Dad scores a job through her efforts.

Family arguments will never be the same.

I can't wait to see how this plays out in the Echo Chamber.

All unemployed people should send her the resume.

Eh I guess. His wife already works for them, he worked on their campaign, and he has already tried to get a job there though. TThat's a bit less cute and more desperate/sad. those guys andand gals gotta all know each other. I am not sure being seen as that guy that made his daughter shill for him is a long term helpful move. Who knows though, beats not having a job I guess

So, the dad's a stay-at-home parent and the mother works full time. What's the big deal that requires the kid having to give his resume to the First Lady? If it was the dad that worked for the executive branch and the mother that was a stay at home mom, no one would bat an eye.

As the former spouse of a long term unemployed, I loved this story.  But the press has picked up "long term unemployed" since January, and I know because no one seemed to give a shiat before the benefits ran out.

If someone is working for the White House and their spouse is long term unemployed, especially at over that magic 3 year mark, then there's a good story behind it.  If we don't find out about it, then the whole thing was staged.  If we do, then the story is going to illustrate why that girl's dad has a hard time finding a job.

And I'm hoping against hope that the dad is someone who was overqualified for every job he applied for, because that's what happened to our family.  You can't get a job at McDonald's with a Ph.D.

Yeah, meanwhile I'm having to go to school again to get my airframe and power plant certificate because my 10 years of military experience on the same bird (AH64D) that I want to work on in the civilian world isn't good enough for Boeing. I wish I could get my resume in her hand, but my mom doesn't work for the president. I'm sure that wouldn't matter if she did, but this failed at tugging heart strings. Just sayin.

That's what I'm thinking. It's probably this guys own fault for not working. He's too proud to work any other job. I know people like that. Living off of their spouse or parents. Too good to flip burgers or work a job that involves physical labor. What's the old saying??? Oh yeah, beggers can't be choosers.

Any man that isn't working himself to death and putting the health of a business before that of his family is a burden on society.

Depending on your field, underemployment could derail a career worse than unemployment.  The short-term gains can be small compared to the long-term harm.

The other thing is, it's almost as hard to get a job you're overqualified for as one you're underqualified for.  People simply don't want to hire someone that is such a high flight risk.

That makes sense. I guess. But, most shiat jobs have a huge turnover rate, so it really wouldn't matter. I guess it's just a shiatty situation. I hope it never happens to me.

And after Michelle picked up the resume off the table:

Anyone who's worked on any presidential campaign in the last 14 years deserves to be unemployed as far as I'm concerned. Let them eat cake/shiat (or Michelle would just let them eat kale. Cake would be too fattening).

Why do you assume that a job outside his field is even an option?

Those of us with high-skill resumes have basically zero chance at a no-skill job.  Employers know we will still be job hunting for something in our field and furthermore, those of us who work brain jobs aren't going to be as productive in a physical job as someone who normally works that kind of work.

If you do omit that on your resume, you may wind up with a large gap in employment that then must be explained.  If you are a woman, you can get away with saying that you were a stay-at-home spouse, but that's harder to pull of as a man.  I suppose you could lie and say you were doing something else with that time, but then you are lying which has it's own risks.

"oh 2004 to 2012"?  I was working in a field non relevant to the McDonalds Job I am applying for.  How much effort you really think the McDs people put into hiring.

hmm. .stands upright... barely slurs...less twitchy than the last guy...only slight bad body odor..  HOLY CRAP!!  he actually has a resume?  Im hiring him just for that.

quit being lazy.
quit being elitist.
