Why does this employer want their legs pulled off?

+1 internets to you, good sir.

FTFA: "The facility will produce fresh, never frozen shrimp for restaurants, fishing charters boats and grocery chains throughout the country.

The company says it's all done environmentally-friendly and energy-efficient system. The shrimp is never frozen and is raised without chemicals or preservatives."

I just wish they didn't have to freeze them. I can't support a company like this which freezes its shrimp.

I used to ride a bus that was on the route of a major shrimp processing plant. I learned really quick when the shift changes at the plant were so I could avoid being on the bus. Those women stank!

They should just get some mantis shrimps.

How do they raise shrimp in a total vacuum?
This kind of shiat makes me get all stabby.

What kind of sick bastard pulls the legs off of shrimp for a living? Tiny, helpless shrimp, condemned for the rest of their lives to wheel about in tiny little shrimp wheelchairs. SpongeBob would rip your heart out and feed it to you if he could. If he weren't a sponge.

2014-04-24 05:47:44 PM
Why would I want to pull the legs off shrimp workers, and why did they hire only workers with little legs?

2014-04-24 05:49:21 PM
C'mon man!  If the shrimp can't pay up your supposed to break their legs, not pull them off!

2014-04-24 05:51:58 PM
If they're going to pull the legs off, they might as well de-turd them while they're at it.

Fun fact:

To make the females breed faster they remove one or both of her eye stalks.

I am glad to see this. The shrimping industry in Florida is controlled by a few families from the bottom up. Shrimpers are often like share croppers, renting the boats from the same guys they sell to, who set the prices. Perpetual debt

500 workers for a 3-4 acre shrimp farm!! That's awesome. Bravo, fellow farmers, your work today will allow our children to live on Mars tomorrow.

I have a feeling 90% of the new workers will be Cubans and Filipinos.  Why, because very few Americans will show up to apply, just like field harvesting.

Whenever I eat shrimp that are from the far-east I wonder what I am eating in the black line intestinal tract.
I have a good idea of what they feed their farm raised shrimp.

Still eat them though.

You are all going to hell.  The Bible is clear that it is a sin to eat shrimp.  There is no ambiguity.

In fairness, it's an understood conversational shorthand and you're being pedantic.

/yes, there are times when it is logically abused and you can get stabby all you want... or make memes about it

I just wanted to say, that.. In my own opinion, District 9 was a very clever and well assembled bit of modern science fiction and that it told a very good story using a futuristic setting to deal with current themes and subjects, as any good piece of science fiction should.. and also that the effects still hold up

Well of course. It's the same all along the Gulf Coast. I don't think I've ever seen an American laborer on a shrimp boat, and I've been on at least a hundred. But that's not the point. I'm looking forward to a Roddenberry-esque United Federation of Planets kind of thing. It's an amazing installation ... whoever works it.

Sometimes I don't even take the shells off. Texas boilers, God bless them, do this weird thing where they season the pot AFTER they boil 'em. The veins do make your mouth kind of gritty, but that's mostly just sand and petrochemicals ... aw, godd*mn it ... now I'm drooling ...

Those were prawns. Related to shrimps, but not in the same species.
