600 kg = 1322.77 lbs

You're welcome.

I'm not one for buying into bad omens but if there was such a thing, this would be a pretty glaring example.

2014-04-24 03:27:35 PM
Wouldn't this count as a negative miracle?

So they should probably hold off on the canonization of JPII, until another positive miracle.

The Catholic Church uses a net sum counting scheme for miracles when it comes to canonization, IIRC.

Like when lightning strikes a church, or that statue of Jesus that then burned down. If I believed in God I'd have to rethink it and instead start believing in Thor or Zeus.

Clearly Loki knocked the cross over.

You never know. Maybe he was the next Hitler.

"When someone is saved from certain death by a strange concatenation of circumstances, they say that's a miracle. But of course, if someone is killed by a freak chain of events - the oil spill just there, the safety fence broken just there - that must also be a miracle. Just because it's not nice doesn't mean it's not miraculous." - Terry Pratchett, Interesting Times

I'm going to wait three days before I decide how I feel about this one. Everything is about sequels these days...

Why would this be a bad omen of any kind?  It's pretty obvious this had nothing to do with the late pope, God just really hated that dude.

2014-04-24 04:32:20 PM
It's a sign (of idiots who weren't qualified to put it up securely)

John Paul's spirit has turned over a new leaf.  Instead of pounding boy butts, he's now pounding out people's guts.

The pagan gods have always made more sense and had more credibility than the Christian version. Lightning strikes and growing crops are godly results! Christians get Jesus appearing on toast.

On the plus side, he is now with the Pope.

2014-04-24 04:34:05 PM
What if:   the pope reached out and smote a really bad man?  You know, they go to clean out this guys apartment and find a bunch of bodies in plastic barrels.  IDK about you, but I would think that would be a miracle.

This. I'm pretty sure Jesus (who was also the God of the Old Testament) was pretty against creating physical objects to be worshiped in his stead. Double that when they're dedicated to a human, not to him.

sounds like an anti-miracle or whatever the opposite of miracle is that still falls under 'incredible incident' but not falling under 'awesomely good outcome'.

Yeah but he sacrificed himself so we would be forgiven for it. It always comes back to God's vanity. He likes the attention.

I sort of think so as well, though there is nothing in His sermon's that state that view very strongly. And sorry for the Taurus. Ouch.

No.  You mean 2 quarterweight, 3 hundredweight, 22 pounds, 12 ounces, 6 drams, and a bit more than 3/4 of a grain.

If you're going to use weird systems like Avoirdupois and excessive precision to boot, you may as well go all out.

I'm fine with that.  If you're already looking from the Christian wolrdview: The guy who created the universe has the right to enjoy attention from those who have not.

It's all good, I sold it to a buddy a few years ago. I've switched all my pistols over to Smith and Wesson M&Ps. I just don't wanna make a new Fark username. The Millennium Pro was a decent gun though, just not for me.
