It's the extra fat that is confusing you.

From TFA: "If you think about it, this is the same stuff that people are making smoothies out of every day."

No. No it is not.

Well coconut fat is good for you. You would get sufficient protein too.

So unless you are anti-sugar I don't see the problem other than total calories.

Also people do make smoothies with coconut oil.

I understand this works real well with helping Politicians, Celebrities and idiots who come up with these cleansing diets, pull their heads out of their asses.

Preservatives/binding agents/colorings are also a concern. I'd rather use fresh fruit and real milk - the brands I've seen use soy or almond milk which have barely any protein.
Coconut oil is a delicious ingredient tho, as is hazelnut oil if you don't like coconut.

bacon fat is good for you.

/ I keep a reserve of strained bacon fat in a container for... well, everything.  it's a good cooking fat.  very high temperature smoke point, means less gets fat absorbed in the cooking processs, and it was excellent flavor and way more effective than other oils for cooking/preventing sticking.  can be used to oil the grill too.
// and, it never goes bad, because it's just fat.  just like olive oil.  unlike olive oil, it once had a soul, which means it brings you special powers.

You've gotta balance your diet.  You can't have too much dairy fat and pork fat.  You need more beef fat.

Try using it for making real popcorn on the stove top.  Heaven.

I had some coconut based I've cream the other day at an office event. One of the coworkers is lactose intolerant. It was really very pleasant.

Strained?  But the crunchy bits add so much flavor!

/ just used some last night to oil the grill.
// strangely, that's not a euphemism
