Things I never wondered as a kid but do as an adult:

Why only Cornish game hens? What's wrong with a Cornish cock?

Huh, I've been using "henting" for years without knowing it was Cornish.

Anyone ever read Le Morte d'Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory? The constant theme of Cornish knights being crap is rather amusing. Although Tristram changed a few minds on this subject.

It's an AWESOME book by the way, for anyone that still reads books.

If anyone is a fan of BBC television I recommend the 'Doc Martin' series (available on Netflix and Amazon). It's filmed in Port Isaac, Cornwall and is hilarious. It seems like the first or second episode was called "Going Bodwin", bodwin being the local slang for 'crazy', or something like it. The scenery is drop dead gorgeous, too.

It's getting more popular in the US now. A lot of PBS stations are showing series 6 this spring.

And then you say something about cats and then you sodomise Susan George while Dustin Hoffman's out shooting pheasants and then Rod Lurie farks everything up 30 years later.
Something like that, anyway. I'm not a linguist.

I watched Series 1-5 in a two week period and then had serious withdrawal. However, my local PBS station is going to air series 6 this summer. Can't wait.

I love Doc Martin!  There are also 2 movies that predate the series - early incarnations of the character.  They are also on Netflix.  Martin Clunes is also in "Saving Grace" with Craig Ferguson.  It's a great stoner movie - silly as hell.

If anyone wants to experience the Cornish dialect but doesn't want to huff it to Jolly Ole Engalund, head over to Harker's (pronounced Hoikers) Island (pronounced Oiland), North Carolina.  There'll you'll find how close redneck and redcoat really are.
