According to the article, the show "launched" the career of Mo Rocca.

not only should the show be cancelled, everyone associated with it should be imprisoned for life

2014-04-24 11:28:10 AM
I had no idea it was still on.

TFA made me realize I haven't watched VH1 in I don't even know how many years....I couldn't even tell you what channel it is without looking at the guide.

/Used to watch it all the time when Rosie O'Donnell was a veejay

Once in while I'll see that they have The Blues Brothers on.  Other than that, I'm not sure why I keep it on my channel guide.

Danny, Tonya Harding, Todd Bridges, and all the rest will be safe on TruTV for a while longer, I'm sure.

No it was pretty good back in the day when VH1 realized they had something good with "I <3 the (decade)" and they started the show. Then they didn't want to pay or just didn't recognize what it was that made it good and they drove it right in to the ground.

Mo was funny on The Daily.  They knew how to tap into his persona and make it work for them.

In everything else he's an unlikable turd.  He makes me re-consider donating to NPR whenever I hear him on "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me."

So now they have room for another Screeching biatches of Ho Town show, because you know there no way in hell they might put music on.

All the things that I knew to be true about BET years ago seems to be spreading and infecting other channels, that is just terrible.

I agree that a lot of the reality shows MTV and VH1 put out are crap... but lets face it: there's no market for music videos on TV anymore.  Who's going to watch them?  YouTube basically put the final nail in the coffin for that concept.

Mo will work for whoever will pay him (NPR, CBS, Cooking Channel), but I do believe the article is correct:
I first recall seeing him on BEST WEEK EVER and I LOVE THE xx's.

Given that both VH1 and COMEDY CENTRAL were (and maybe still are) under the same corporate
umbrella, and the VH1 shows may even have been filmed in the MTV studios I'm sure he first came to
TDS's attention by way of BEST WEEK EVER.

No you're off by like 6 years. Mo Rocca was first part of the daily show in the late 90s,  back when kilborn was the host. Best week ever wasn't even a show until long after VH1 stopped playing music video in the mid 00s.

Ah.

I actively loathed Kilborn and thus had no idea.

That implies that he moved from TDS to BWE given that I know for sure that during that time both VH1 and CC shared production teams pretty closely.

Yeah right. Next you'll tell me that douche Craig Kilborn hosted it once...

The first "I love the 80s" series was great. The follow ups, to which I'd add Best Week ever, not nearly as good.

I actually would have watched it if I knew Paul F. Tompkins was hosting.

I haven't had cable in many years, but I'm shocked to learn VH1 is still in existence. Last time I checked, it was the light pop music/classic music video and celebrity gossip channel.

Hell for that matter, other than the one-off actually GOOD random song nowadays, is there any good mainstream music in general now to make a video for??

I really enjoyed I Love the XX's and always binged when they had them showing back to back to back.

I haven't seen one in years though, so watching the end credits for Music & Lyrics was a great laugh.

/Lot of videos of the OPENING credit video, none with the end credits and the VH1 style popups. Boo!
