Maybe it's ransom. Back in Tijuana, we kidnap your dog, put it in an oil drum. The ransom's not paid, we light your dog on fire.

CDSB:

I hate tiny dogs.  My neighbors across the street recently got a fluffy white tiny little yapper.  I'm not sure if it's a toy poodle or what but it's the size of a chihuahua.  Yesterday when I took my dog out to pee it ran over into our yard and tried to start a fight.  My dog is an 80 lb great dane mix and for whatever reason, tiny little shiat dogs always want to commit suicide by much larger dog with her.  So I had to hold mine by the collar while their kid tried to wrangle the little monster, it was dodging him while yapping and still trying to get at me and my dog so we just went inside to get the least for our walk.  Not too big a deal but if they don't train it to stay in their yard I'm gonna get pissy.  My dog needs a little chase the stick and sprint around the yard time.  The neighbors on my other side a couple doors down had a devil chihuahua names Coco that thought he owned the whole neighborhood and would attack us any time we walked by and charged us in our yard a couple times.  I hope the other neighbors train theirs before it becomes as big of an asshole as that dog.

Nope. Not even then. They're called "watchdogs", not "bitedogs" and they are there to give a warning.

A dog can bite a human only when it has been trained to on command and even then only for restraint purposes, and even then, only by law enforcement personnel.  Otherwise, its feral and you put it down ASAP.

Fortunately, your posture of authority doesn't mean you actually get to make the rules. Please exercise caution when jumping my fence. You may be in for a surprise, despite your ostensible statement of fact.

I have a can of 'bear spray'  in my hand when I walk my dog. Stupid people that think their little dog does not need to be on a leash really piss me off. Their dog gets within 6 feet of me (the max length of a leash in San Diego County), they get spray.

Two last week, one owner came at me, thought I was going to have to spray him too. Said he was going to call the police. Told him that they would tell him it wasn't their issue and to call animal control. And I offered to call them for him and reminded him that it was a $250 fine for having an aggressive dog off leash, only $150 for an off leash dog. Informed him  I will be walking with my GoPro and reporting him every day with video evidence of his dog not properly restrained. His dog is going to cost him a lot of money, too bad that a leash is only $15 at PetSmart.

Chihuahuas are the only dogs to attract more asshole owners than Pit Bulls. In my experience, as a group, they are easily the most poorly socialized dogs I've encountered. Just because they are small, doesn't mean they don't need training and socialization.

I have a miniature rat terrier and a chihuahua. I'd like to have bigger dogs, but our backyard isn't as big as it would  need to be for bigger dogs to cut loose and run around.

Between the two, I have almost no problems. The terrier occasionally decides he doesn't like another dog, but he also gets along just fine with most of them. The chihuahua is an absolute sweetheart, and never gives me problems other than not wanting to go outside when it's wet or cold.

All that said, if you jump a fence into someone else's backyard, you shouldn't be surprised if a dog sees you as a thread and bites you. If you need something from me, come to the front door and ring the bell like a civilized human.

We have a Chihuahua and a Jack Russel.  The Jack is actually the bigger puss in cold weather when it comes to avoiding going outside altogether.  He'll just not go for half a day on those super cold days.  The Chihauhua weighs about 4 pounds and goes outside readily, but lasts justs long enough to throw a whiz before running back.  They have no problem with us putting on the dog sweaters when it's that cold.   Cats are bad around pregnant women, even more useless than Chihuahuas, make your house stink even if you don't notice it, track fecal matter on your kitchen counter tops, don't really care if you die or not because they'll just eat your corpse, cause cellulitus infections, and leave hair on everything in the house.   Other than that, they're great, and everyone should have about 15 to 25 of them that they "rescued."

I have three chihuahuas and I totally agree - just because they're small doesn't mean they're not dogs. I walk my guys 2 miles a day and I get stopped by people at least once a week saying "Oh my gosh, I've never seen a little dog that wasn't yappy!" They're not yappy when you take them out of the stroller and teach them to behave...

When I am 50 feet from the owners property and on public property, the dog rushes out at me and my very socialized and friendly Boxer, attempts to bite my dog or me, they will get gassed. I walk by pits, shepherds, ikidas without issues at all as they all have responsible owners. It is these little aggressive dogs and their owners that don't think the law applies to them and their cute little dog. My dog could break the back of any small dog (they didn't name them boxers for nothing) and I would feel really bad as it is the owners fault not the dog. All I am doing is training their dog not to attack me. I am supplying free information about their liability for being an @$$hole dog owner.

WhoopAssWayne: //my neighbor has a huge mastiff named Beast that is a community dog. The worst thing Beast has ever done is eat cat food we put out for a stray once.

I find that big dogs are often incredibly sweet. Even the traditional guard dog breeds, which people often think must be nasty, aggressive dogs. They're not. They don't need to be, they know their own power. They're protective, but have no reason to act aggressive if you're not acting like a threat. However, when you're a little shrimp of a dog that a small child could take out with a soft kick, the whole world is a massive threat. Think of what a cat might represent to a small dog. Pound for pound, they are much nastier fighting machines than dogs. Since your average housecat is a fair bit smaller than your average dog, the cat is outclassed or it winds up being a pretty fair fight. Now imagine that the cat is the same size as the dog. It becomes a major threat to the dog. Put a cat the size of a Rottweiler in the same room as that dog, and well, the dog loses.

For small dogs, just about everything in the world is a threat- there's a reason they become twitchy and paranoid. The aggressiveness and noise are just attempts to project the image of power.
