I said the President was my longtime friend and then he said 'your friend is an asshole.' ... At that point I told Steve that HE was an asshole and I wasn't going to sit at his table while he was being such a jackass.

OK, OK, let's settle this.

You're both assholes.

So his angry drunk thing that he does is to call an asshole "asshole" and to walk away before things escalate. He sounds like a good level-headed drunk who can handle his shiat. I would totally hang out with him.

Yeah, but he's also probably lost touch with reality a bit when he calls Obama a "close, personal friend".  I doubt Obama is calling Clooney when he's having trouble with Michelle and just needs a friend to talk to.  Clooney is a major star and so the President likes to have him around.  The President is the President, so it's cool to be wanted, but I doubt that after Obama's term is over they're going to be playing basketball in each others driveways.

Folks that can't handle that eventually just sit at home to drink, and that's why we all get to enjoy the show Cops.

Me:  "So who's the farking guy throwing up on your sister's friend's carpet?"

Idiot former friend:  "That's just Sean.  He gets that way when he drinks."

Me:  "He's being kinda a dick, isn't he?  What with the puking and...now, being belligerent to the homeowner...all to a party he wasn't invited to?"

Me:  "So, he shows up to parties that he was not invited to, drinks the host's booze, then goes into bouts of passing out and vomiting on their carpet, and when asked to leave (or maybe use a farking trash can), he becomes belligerent and violent...explain to me why you invited him to the party again?"

If he gets pissed off at people insulting Obama, he must not get on the internet much, if at all. He'd love the Anti-Obama trolls who find a way to rail Obama even if the subject has absolutely NOTHING to do with him, or comparing him to people like Hitler, Stalin and Kim Jong Un.

I love beer, I really love beer, and I also like wine, scotch, and other alcohols. I am currently trying to get fit and drop fat, however, so tomorrow is two weeks without any alcohol. I realized this morning that two weeks is the longest I've gone without alcohol in probably 8 years.

What's weird is that I don't really miss it. It's not a struggle to not drink. It was just a habit; sit at home, drink beer.

Do you have the self-introspection capability to question if that's a personal view and not one held by people who don't already disagree with or dislike him?

In other words, could he eat crackers in a manner you would not find offensive?

2) Congrats.....I'm doing the same thing.  I promised myself I would quit drinking until mid-May if Seattle won the Super Bowl.  (Of course, it doesn't help that I'm flying over to Prague, and will be enjoying the annual beer festival.)
3) For me, I didn't really care about it at home.  The only time I wanted to cheat and have a few was when I was the DD, and some friends and I went to some yuppie/douchebag bars in Bellevue.  Not drinking at dinner is easy, but when you're at those kinds of bars, that's the only thing you can really do to have a good time.

Better explanation:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Clooney#Controversy

This explanation, even though he did later apologize does definitely point to being an asshole, not just for the comment, but for saying that Heston deserves what he got, refusing to apologize, only to later give in and apologize.
