(NPR)   Officials fear that the nearly four million people traveling to witness the canonization of two popes at the Vatican will cripple the city's infrastructure. If only there were a supernatural force they could pray to and ask for good fortune   (npr.org) divider line 11

Would be nice if we let people be dead for awhile before canonization. Maybe give time for the ugly stuff to come to light and actually see the long term effects someone had... As mentioned above we're already seeing what he missed.

Alucard said it best.   http://youtu.be/SWynPcFRzWU?t=3m20s (Hellsing, violent, probably NSFW for violence and cartoon animation, it's Dracula vs. Nazis)

Honestly, if you're going to have a dick-fighting competition with a woman, you must've started with the world's cruelest handicap. Which I'm sure benefits the nine year old boy you have chained up in your private Vatican jet. Which was paid for how? Oh right, generous donations from your followers to spread the word of God...all over his back.

ElPresidente: The legal age of sexual consent in Vatican City is 12 (insert your own Catholic priests molesting young boys joke here)

It was raised to 18 recently.

ElPresidente: It has the highest crime rate per person in Europe by a mile (lots of pickpocketing, which makes the Pope cry)

A grand total of around 450 crimes reported in most years, almost all small time pick pocketing. Very misleading when you only count a few hundred "citizens" even though there are hundreds of thousands of visitors.

Lets concentrate on pressuring the church to reform its banking industry and send pedophiles to jail rather than post misleading statistics.

Hey the headline was "A supernatural force", it did not specify which one.

Can someone explain why you would travel to see this?  Seems like a waste of a trip to Italy.  They can't even hand out medals to the recipients or anything.  Will the Dead Popes be playing?  Will there be a sundae bar?  Or a Woodstock-style free love sexfest?

If only canonization meant they fire all of their sexually abusive priests out of a canon, the Catholic Church might regain some semblance of respectability.

nekom: Oh they're making JP2 a saint?  Cool, I guess.  He seemed like a pretty decent guy.

Other than being a misogynistic extremist who installed all the anti-Vatican II cardinals and led directly to Pope Ratzo, I guess.

I hope they use a large enough powder charge...otherwise, it won't be much of a show.
