I thought it was another joke article, like the model with the arms Ellen had on. She looks like the stand-in for the lead woman from Last of The Mohicans.

"Ms Lavey, who's a talent manager for public relations company uFluencer Group, explained that she only became obsessed with her looks following the rise of social media. "

Right.   To the tune of 15,000 dollars?  I'm betting the obsession with her looks existed long before facebook.

I'd say what I really think about her, but the "C" word is probably filtered.

Meh, she did pretty well. Not extreme or anything. As long as she had 15k to spend without putting it on her credit card then more power to her.

Well, at least she had a good surgeon. It looks like subtle things, but with the way people abuse plastic surgery it could have been way, way, worse.

I see no difference other than the tan.  $15,000 for a tan?

A fool and her money...

What she did is perfectly natural. Nature itself makes certain creatures appear photoshopped, though usually it does it to make them less visible: bigfoot, for example, is made to always appear blurry and out of focus.

2014-04-24 01:26:00 AM
So... you spent $15k to go from about a 5.... to about a 5 with a tan and thicker chin?
It's too bad you couldn't have spent that money fixing your brain instead.

Look really carefully at the nose; it's slightly convex in the before picture, and slightly concave in the after picture.

Seems like a waste of money to me, but it's her money to waste.

I do think thats the more sinister side of this kind of surgery.  Once a slight improvement is observed (accurately or not) the compulsion sets in to continue the process.  There is no shortage of photographic evidence to highlight the results.

Becoming? We've been narcissistic since, forever. People have been spending loads of money on surgery and other things to enhance themselves since it was invented who knows how long ago.

In other words... this woman is dumb.

While this is true, the devotion to posting images of yourself, or your food, or sharing each and every brain fart you have via some form of social media, is new. People can't seem to stop showing off the most mundane things. I really do wonder what makes them think anyone is interested enough to watch in the first place. There seems to be so many narcissists there is no one left to be the audience.

'When you do see a picture of yourself hanging out, your instinct is, "oh I wish I were tanner or not wrinkled" or "wish this" and this is a natural response due to the culture we're gearing towards.'

Seldom does a woman say,
"when you do see a picture of yourself hanging out, your instinct is I wish I had sucked my gut in"
"when you do see a picture of yourself hanging out, your instinct is I wish I had stuck to my diet"
"when you do see a picture of yourself hanging out, your instinct is I wish I had worked out more"
"when you do see a picture of yourself hanging out, your instinct is I wish I wasn't so vain"

That's exactly why I think it would be great.  Roman graffiti was prolific and vulgar.  Given what they did with actual walls, I can only imagine their virtual walls would have been awesome.

TBH $15,000 on surgery is not much compared to some. I got quoted $3,300 for a tooth implant yesterday. So that's the equivalent of 4 1/2  teeth.

That took me a really long time to get your joke, and even now I'm not sure I got it?

Is it that I said that nobody would notice, and yet somehow I noticed?

Julie Chen was god-awful ugly, now she's just plastic

2014-04-24 02:54:11 PM
So a 38 year old LA woman spends 15k on cosmetic surgery.  And this is news why?  It must happen 100 times a day, 50 of which would no doubt give you a reason at least as ridiculous as this woman's.

Is it because she said she's doing it to look like she's been photoshopped?  Isn't that the same thing as just wanting to look closer to perfect?  People know what cosmetic surgery is, right?  That is its entire purpose.  Not that I'm defending it, just that it's an entire decades-old industry based on "making people look photoshopped".  Yet someone feels it's worth writing an article about this one woman.  Say what you want about cosmetic surgery - it has a lot more reason for existance than TFA.

The Metro must be a real rag.

If women knew how a lot of guys thought, many of these surgeries would cease.

Especially if we're horny, which is thankfully only 89% of the time. She wasted her money, big time. (checks again) Yeah, she looked better before in my eyes.

It's amazing what "undesirable features" don't matter when you meet someone. One chick on YouTube actually has a big nose, but she's still cute and I'd tap that like a precious natural resource.
