That's odd. Usually they put it in someone's luggage and forget which bag it was.

I was in a car rented from Ted Stevens airport just last week, so I'm getting a kick ...

(I note that they didn't indicate WHICH rental company it was.)

One time I rented a car at LAX.  I stopped at a random taco place for my dinner.  Lets just say there were unrecovered explosives left in that rental car before I returned it.

Well, in their defense, cops are required to be an idiot with a low IQ to land the job.

Here's what a small piece of explosive can do:

Grenade vs. Washing Machine

Imagine if the person that rented that car tried to cross a border and a customs dog sniffed that out. These cops would have walked away whistling while someone was swept off to guantanamo

As a LEO, this is an unfortunate story to read. Understandable though, that mistakes will be made when you have to work in extremely stressful and life threatening situations on a daily basis. We live by a warriors code, something the general public probably cannot begin to understand.

Actually, I understand it so completely, profoundly, and intuitively that I don't need to begin to understand it.
In a momentary flash of enlightenment, i understand it in it''s universality.
It's bullshiat.

Imagine if the cops had put drugs in the car, then just arrested the person renting the car for transporting drugs.  Arrested by the same cops that put it there.

/the cynicism is growing strong in me, it flows like a river some days
//it helps in spotting the back stabbings on GoT before they were revealed.
///so it has its purpose, although if this was GoT, the cop would've been sent by the guy's bil who was secretly fathering the guy's kids.

Isn't drug possession a strict liability crime in several states?

So, they lost track of explosives, found the car with the explosives, but didn't charge the renter with a crime having to do with explosives?  Interesting....

It's a better training exercise when the driver of the car isn't in on the training.
