I love the Coliseum, though not as much as I did before the Raiders came in and messed with it. I'll miss it when this whole situation is finally resolved.

Personally, I'm fond of the plan that a separate group is working on that involves building a stadium at the Port of Oakland, right in between the farking cranes. It would probably involve an ownership change, which, okay, cool.

That stadium is a shiathole. Literally and figuratively. It's ugly as f*ck. And that's before you get into the sewage backing up into the locker rooms and the fact that a game was rained out earlier this year because the field hadn't yet drained from the previous night's rain.

1) The A's aren't for it (Admittedly because they keep trying to get an SJ spot).
2) There's no BART access and it's right in the middle of downtown.

Yes, he should take a valuable market away from a team highly profitable for the MLB and give it to a bottom third team with a notoriously cheap-ass owner.

BRILLIANT!

The funniest part is the huge seating area built for the Raiders (Mt. Davis) isn't even used anymore!  They cover it with green tarp for the A's and black tarp for the Raiders.

Both teams need new places, period.  Whether you send the Raiders back to LA (way unlikely, as it's the league's favorite threat) or the A's to San Jose or whatever, the Coliseum needs to go.  It's been the worst stadium in baseball since the rise of Mount Davis, and like it or not it's never truly been suited for football.

Christ, what an asshole. You wouldn't even have the Giants if it weren't for the benevolence of former Athletics owner, the late Walter Haas. They'd be the Tampa Bay Giants, and you'd be shiat out of luck, you ungrateful piece of shiat. Typical panda-hat wearing, routine fly-ball cheering, seagull bait eating motherfarker. Your football team has more integrity than your baseball team, and they moved completely away from you assholes. I used to root for the Giants, but they can go eat a bowl of dicks. I hope your stadium falls into the bay, with you in it.

/fark you

Rivercats draw in 2014 8,588/11,093 = 77%
A's draw in 2014 21,327/35,067 = 61%

so yeah, they do

In the coming years, Oakland is going to lose the Warriors, the A's, and the Raiders.  Then they can get back to what is really important to them.
Police shootings and black on black crime.

There aren't going to be many black people left.  They've all moved to Richmond or left the Bay Area in favor of SF refugees and Hispanics.

Walter Haas is dead and the new guy is a prick.  You can't just give another team something then demand it back when they strike oil (in this case, oil is an influx of tech-boom related rich people).  This is why Bud Selig is dragging his feet.

1) Lew Wolfe is against it solely because it keeps the A's in Oakland
2) BART has already said that they'll create a bus route similar to Air BART to Oakland International

UNAUTHORIZED FINGER:

Counterpoint: Selig has already been blocking numerous offers for outside parties to buy the A's. Not even the other owners like Lew Wolfe and want him out, but Selig's been blocking those sales attempts and preventing a rational owner from coming in. If Wolfe wasn't such a f*ck-tard, the A's would have already signed onto Stadium City, and Oakland wouldn't be loosing the Warriors. Everyone was good to go and waiting on the A's to join in, but Wolfe's been such an ass about it and stonewalling that the SF deal was completed first.

This is a fantastic summary of the territorial rights thing that was posted at Athletic's Nation a couple of years back:

Why territorial rights? Oakland did SF a favor when they were trying to build a new stadium in the early 90's and were considering the South Bay. Territorial rights were created in the hope that it would give the Giants the public votes to support a new South Bay ballpark. That didn't work out. Unfortunately, the territorial rights "favor" had financial value which was included in the price of the Giants franchise when the team was sold in 1992. The Magowan group bought the rights that were intended as a gift. Now the South Bay rights are a financial entity, and the Giants have actively worked to expand their Peninsula/South Bay fan base. There is real value in that, and the Giants have every reason to demand compensation if MLB revokes the territorial rights to the South Bay area. But there is a very strong moral argument that the A's were originally under no obligation to give the rights to the Giants in the first place. So no-one's fully in the right and it's a mess. One would hope Bud Selig would work quickly to solve this mess and let everyone move on, but he's instead waffled on the issue. This leaves the A's unable to create a secure long-term plan and well, here we are.

Basically, Selig (or Manfred when he takes over) needs to make a decision either way.

//original link: http://bit.ly/1nt9NvC

///Only thing I think the author missed was that Haas probably didn't foresee the new stadium explosion when he gave up the rights, nor did he have any idea that Oakland would ruin the stadium to lure the Raiders back.

I grew up with the A's. When I first saw Dave Stewart as a little kid I asked my mom if he was Mr. T. That whole late 80s team were super heroes to me. Even Walt Weiss. My signed bash brothers poster is a prized possession and I still have the VHS tape of Rickey Henderson stealing number 939.

Let them go to *shutter* Sacramento.
