Seems like just this once, Bieber wasn't being an idiot.  It was a misunderstanding, and he was actually engaged in an activity that most would consider respectful were it not for said misunderstanding.  No harm, no foul.  Bieber gets a pass from me this time.  This time.

Nice going, Canada.

Justin Bieber is a farking idiot. But I'm almost certain he doesn't know Japanese, so this is a non-story.

Bieber visited that japanese war shrine that honors some WW2 war criminals.  Bieber is not apologizing to Japan, he is apologizing to everyone that is pissed off about that shrine being a thing.

END COMMUNICATION

Beiber: 'Whut? I'm in Japan?'

As with most of humanity i think he is an idiot, cannot really fault the lil bastard on this one, this is not Bonzo Goes To Bitburg moment or anything like that.

As much as I can't stand that jerk, I don't think he actually did anything wrong there (for once). How would he know that China would throw a hissy fit?

Give or take a couple days and I'm sure he'll be back in the news for something stupid.

I imagine that the average Bieber fan has no idea what World War II was and who fought in it.

He's a braindead moron, and it's a lot more than just China that are offended by that shrine. It becomes an issue every few years, Western news covers it for awhile, some people get all butthurt over it, other people get butthurt over their butthurt, and then they move on to something else. I really don't see why Americans get so worked up over it, we have tons of monuments to war criminals. Hell, we name military bases after them, raise statues in their honor, and I'm not just talking about the traitors who fought for the slaveowners in the Civil War either.

The only real offensive thing here is that he believed he was at a temple meant for worship and prayer, which according to him, means "I should take a selfie to show I have culturez and shiat".

Huh that's interesting to know of. This is the first I ever heard about this particular shrine. Guess that is what happens when I fall out of trying to study different cultures and such for awhile.

Us Americans shouldn't be complaining about anything anyway.especially as you said, we have monuments dedicated to war criminals.
