To be fair, it's a terrible line. Nothing witty or punny about it.

"Nick," said the voice before another gunshot is fired and Kifer is heard tumbling down the stairs.

"Oh, sorry about that, "Have a nice trip" Smith says.

Now it's a good kill line.

/He's definitely a murderer

Ugh. His wording about killing the teenage girl is absolutely chilling. After he shot her, he dragged her into the basement and then shot her a second time, calling it "a good, clean finishing shot" because she was already going to die or something.

That's horrifying. I don't think he even viewed her as a human being.

this is pretty damning too:
"A state trooper testified during the trial that Smith parked his truck about three blocks away from his house, an apparent attempt to make it seem as if no one were home.
He claimed that he waited until the next day to call a neighbor - who then called police - because he was still afraid of another intruder."

granted SYG and other things have loosened the rules since I learned them in Law School but I'm pretty sure you still are not allowed to actually LURE the burglars in before defending yourself from them.
This, sadly, is surprisingly honest about what it's like to be a guy like him:Smith admitted that he fired more than needed, but it stemmed from a life of fear

Smith admitted that he fired more than needed, but it stemmed from a life of fear.

I'm willing to believe he leads a life of fear.  Maybe he needs somewhere he can be alone pretty much all the time.

Which is just how the NRA leadership wants them. Fear sells more guns and ammo than logic / reason.

Yeah, fry this farker.

NRA doesn't make a significant amount of money off of the sales of guns and ammunition.  It's a *USER* group, not a *MANUFACTURERS* group.

In fact, there are times when the NRA and gun manufacturers are at odds with each other over issues.  NRA was upset about the Bush I assault weapon import ban, but the US gun industry loved it because it meant more profits for them, for example.

I came here to chew bubblegum and kill teens... and I'm all out of bubblegum. Hasta la vista, baby.

That's a really disturbing read. I understand the need to defend yourself but I'm pretty sure a 17 year old unarmed girl who has already been shot doesn't pose much of a threat. Not enough that you have to shoot them several more times.

I don't buy the 'I just didn't want her to suffer' defense. This guy was just itching to kill people in his home

I could understand shooting at people who are breaking in to your home, being you don't know why they are there or what they have planned but once you are shooting people that are already incapacitated you probably shouldn't call the cops afterwards and think everything is going to be cool.

2014-04-23 05:04:17 PM
But prosecutors argue that the audio clip proves Smith was a vigilante waiting for the opportunity to ambush the intruders - and firing the extra shots crossed the line into murder.
Smith claimed that he waited until the next day to call a neighbor - who then called police - because his erection wouldn't go away and he was embarrassed.
"The first couple hours I was just enjoying the feeling, since it's been quite a while if you know what I mean, and I gradually shifted into worrying," he said during the interview. "All those ads saying 'call your doctor if it persists more than four hours' got me concerned, plus there was the chafing, you see."

Jesus. It sounds like he could have just held them for the police. And the coup de grâce isn't covered in self defense laws.

/ On the other hand; it sounds like these kids have been constantly breaking into this old guy's house.

Especially since he waited to call the police because he thought that his quip about Thanksgiving sounded badass.  No, teens shouldn't break into houses, however this guy was going to kill someone somewhere.  JoHo coming to the door, lady cutting in line at 7-11.  Kids flipping him off on the highway.

I know all too many Montana gun owners who have this very fantasy. As a gun owner, I'm willing to admit there are far too many people with guns that hope they get a chance to use it in some movie-fantasy style.

Gun owners who won't admit to this are being dishonest.

SYG has nothing to do w/ this, this is straight up castle doctrine (don't think MN has one though)

And no law anywhere on the books allows for finishing blows to helpless/incapacitated people

His actions read like the stories I've read on gun owner forums. They all have a "What would you do" section. It's like fan fic for Smith and Wesson. People do dream of killing someone and getting away with it, but it's all hypothetical. It's pretty sick if you ask me.

He said he gave her "a good, clean finishing shot. ... She gave out the death twitch."

HOLY SHIAT! This guy is nuts! He's acting as if he was putting a suffering dog down. I'm sure a single warning shot would have scared the crap out of these kids. Crazy old fart is going to "pound me in the arse" prison!

Kinda like a chick who dresses like a whore and gets raped? She shouldn't have lured the rapist?

These two tweakers can be the poster children for a just say no to home invasion campaign. Home invasions get you killed. Don't be a home invader.

meh, i don't know.  i would own a gun and hope to never use it.  but, just to keep around because home invasions are pretty popular around here, and bad hurricanes can leave you a little exposed if you stay behind.  a gun might be enough to be left alone.  for me, just being present has been enough to be left alone.  but, that might not be true if i had anything worth taking.

who knows, i live in a nicer part of town nowadays, and I've decided to evacuate for hurricanes.  so, i may have solved my home invasion/hurricane survival gun needs (although, when it comes to violence, no one any where is immune).

more likely to get robbed in the street, where there is no protection.  can't carry a gun to a bar.  which is the purpose for walking in the street.  and, if you're robbed in the street, you were probably confronted under stealth, so it would be suicide to try to quick draw your way out of that one.

/ guns.  i don't know.  to each their own.
