A week after Islamic extremists stormed a remote boarding school in northeast Nigeria, more than 200 girls and young women remain missing despite a "hot pursuit" by security forces and an independent search by desperate fathers who headed into a dangerous forest to find their daughters.

Give it a week, the girls will start getting their periods en masse and it will be a blood bath.

Nigeria doesn't have enough oil to justify liberation.

It's a bit much to put on our plates right now.

Nigerian army:  "We've rescued the girls!"
Nigerian people:  "Fantastic!  Where are they?"
Nigerian army:  "OK, if you're not going to believe us, maybe we didn't rescue them."

Biafra was a segment of Nigeria that wanted to breakaway.  I think it was based on tribal problems.

Rag me if ya want, but I find no humor in the kidnapping of 230 schoolgirls by a bunch of psychotic militants.

I have a daughter myself and this article makes my skin crawl.

But, the US has been using drones and special forces throughout Africa. There was even a cruise missile (or some other long-range projectile launched from a ship) lobbed into Somalia a few months ago.
I don't think anyone can claim to know what the hell the US government is doing, but they're active in the region for sure.

Hey, maybe we can make them give back all that money they scammed from stupid people if we "liberate" them!

The U.S. is already helping Nigeria with its insurgency, among other problems. What would you prefer we do, subby?

I dunno, you could look at the U.S. Africom  website for a country-by-country rundown. Somalia gets special treatment because it's official government isn't in control of large parts of the country, and the U.S. is in the equivalent of open war with the Islamists who use Somalia as a base. The four places where we use drones and missiles are Somalia, Yemen, Pakistan and Afghanistan (none in Pakistan for the past three months because the Pakistanis asked us to stop while they negotiate with the Taliban).

we've had boots on the ground in africa for a few years now.
But it's for more important things
you know, reasons and such

Do not get involved in a land war in Africa - that's not the famous quote, but most presidents were content to avoid it - even when Cuba was sending troops to Namibia and Mogadishu I believe, at the height of the Cold War.

This President has already sent military assets to Hell holes such as the Central African Republic...

/Don't tempt him with oil subby...

Biafra was in the SE portion of Nigeria, in the Niger delta, where most of the oil is located.  It sort of only existed from around 1967-1970.  It led to a rather bloody civil war.

Right now, we're actually only officially active in Uganda and Djbouti (and by extension, Somalia).  We don't have to many assets in west Africa right now.

Republican plan to sabotage foreign affairs:

step 1. create lies out of thin air to justify occupying nations for over a decade

step 2. after the public gets tired of the costs in lives and money and elects a new President, complain that he is weak and ineffective at being the world's police force

step 3. profit

Gotta google them individually; googling the name just brings you back to this thread. Googling them individually turns up translators that have Swahili-English capability.

Parafujo = "Screw" in Swahili
Mpira = "Ball" in Swahili.

It seems that on the one hand, education is sinful, but abducting and raping girls is perfectly OK; and on the other hand, massacring Scary Mooselimbs doesn't make them go away.
