"Good sushi", from what is fairly universally deemed the best sushi restaurant in the world, is a bit of an understatement. Jiro's restaurant is legendary.

It probably was good sushi. It's the best sushi-ya in Japan and probably the entire world. That said, yes, this is a piece of fluff as news goes.

Obama and Abe look like they really enjoyed their .... sushi... yeah, that's the ticket.

According to White House pool reports, Obama was joined by Ambassador Caroline Kennedy and National Security Adviser Susan Rice at the meal.

Sticky situation. Hope he was able to roll with it.

At least he didn't barf it on his host as Bush the Elder did.

Was he eating it in such a way that you perceived he might own the place subs?

Step 1: eat sushi at world-renowned sushi restaurant
Step 2: proclaim said sushi as 'good'
Step 3: ????
Step 4:  HISTORY'S GREATEST MONSTER™

You can see Jiro himself emerging from the restaurant right at the very end of the clip. Even though it's blurry, you can tell it's him by how short he is compared to his son.

That was my first thought. I would be outraged by "good". I've never wanted to go to a restaurant so much in my life. I've had my problems with the man policies but up until now I kind of liked the dude. But now I hate 'em! I hate 'em so bad. I can't find the right word to express my hate for 'em.

NeverDrunk23: Is this news only because the right hasn't freaked over it and Fox News crying victim, or is it still too early for that?

Yeah, it is.  Actual new things to report on mostly come from real news agencies, it takes a few hours after something happens for the right's form of journalism to build its narrative.

That's what they do.  They take things that were already news, and they turn them into narratives.  It's actually fascinating to watch as insanity percolates into a story as Fox News reports on it.

ELITIST!  Here in Real America we call sushi "bait" and every time someone mentions sushi I always mention how I call sushi "bait".

We are very witty and original in Real America.

That shouldn't take long considering their narrative (and essentially their solutions) basically boil down to 'Don't Do What Donny Don't Does.'

No, I've gotten the feeling there are real writers working on this.  It's not a joke.  The narrative seems likely to be "President causes incident" or (more likely, since it reinforces the underlying stupid message) "Taxpayers pay for expensive Sushi"
