sendtodave: stratagos: Oh FFS, subby, that's not a bionic eye - that's the techno-organic virus! Learn a little science!

/or something

http://marvel.wikia.com/Techno-Organic_Virus

Apocalypse was introduced to the virus from a young Nathan Summers, calling himself the Traveler. In a battle between Traveler and Apocalypse, they were both cut and Ozymandias, Apocalypse's servant, had Apocalypse's body returned to the newly found Celestial Ship, that Apocalypse, at that time, could not understand or communicate with. With Traveler's blood mixed with the Techno-Organic Virus and his own, Apocalypse was healed in a chamber of the ship and, infected with the virus, could then understand the ship. Years later, Apocalypse used the virus to infect Nathan Christopher Charles Summers as an infant, leading to his transport to the future and his growing up to be Cable. It was possible that Apocalypse used this knowledge of past/future events to infect infant Nathan Summers so that he himself would become Apocalypse in the past.

WTF am I reading?

Son of Thunder: Okay, one joke. (More like an addition to the list of references)

The artificial implant in Pontz's left eye is part of a system developed by Second Sight that includes a small video camera and transmitter housed in a pair of glasses.
Images from the camera are converted into a series of electrical pulses that are transmitted wirelessly to an array of electrodes on the surface of the retina. The pulses stimulate the retina's remaining healthy cells, causing them to relay the signal to the optic nerve.
The visual information then moves to the brain, where it is translated into patterns of light that can be recognized and interpreted, allowing the patient to regain some visual function.

Son of Thunder: Not going to joke, this time.  It is awesome that we are approaching this level in medical technology.

A colleague of mine, who works at NASA Langley, has presented a few times on the inevitable cyborg planet, when we start melding the auto/regeneration of organs and limbs with robotic and prosthetic attachments. It is coming. Perhaps not in this lifetime, but it's close. Dawn of the Bio-Designer life form.

Human-engendered evolution is approximately 1xE07 faster than natural evolution.  And accelerating.

Cyno01: This is why im glad Marvel doesnt have the movie rights to X-men, theres just too much going on there, makes for too crowded a universe, even Marvel admitted as much with Decimation. I mean if Marvel Studios had the rights, would we be getting a Guardians of the Galaxy movie at this point, or a second Cable movie...

We are getting a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. It comes out this summer, and the trailer actually looks pretty darn good.

That character is a robot (on that dies in the intro of the movie IIRC).

The protaganist however (which isn't in that picture) had a full cybernetic body although I'm not sure if they ever showed her using X-ray vision, but they did like to use thermal a lot on that show.

And what... No Cowboy Bebop references?

WTF am I reading?

Actually, one of the most difficult aspects of time travel is the grammar.  Try explaining what already happened next Thursday years ago to someone and you begin to see the problem.

You end up with future present tense, past future tense, and present past future tense (something happening right now that already happened in the future).  Of course, future perfect tense gets thrown right out the door because it never is.

Or just listen to the intro of the PlayStation game "Prince of Persia":

Sweet. Haven't seen Winter Soldier yet, will keep an ear out for that. Recently someone did a great animated version of Doctor Strange, but with the right cast and direction a live-action film could be badass.
