"The BLM is categorically not expanding Federal holdings along the Red River," a BLM spokeswoman said in a written statement late Tuesday afternoon.

So there's nothing to this story other than the right wing trying to once again attention whore and divide the country because a Democrat is in office.

Thanks a lot, Obama

But he said no new surveys are currently planned, and reiterated that there are no federal claims to Texas land "as defined by multiple rulings of the U.S. Supreme Court."

Translation: Whatever we are doing, the law is on our side.

So as a result of a crazy rancher lying about family claims to grazing land, the RWNM is now setting up the BLM as the current Big Bogeyman of Big Government to scare the rubes into pouring money into Republican coffers for the 2014 election?

Yeah, sounds about right to me.

As if the poor BLM didn't have a hard enough time dealing with heavily-armed loonies in their daily duties.

Oh Christ. We're about to see a bunch of gun nuts start seizing Federal lands now, aren't we?

Ah yes. A distraction maneuver. They are going to force some of the Nevada patriots to come to TX, which will make the Bundy raid easier.

Could we see a TexaNevadAmerica Mexican standoff?

"It's unclear how seriously BLM might be looking at laying claim to additional boundary land."

Yup.

Probably. They itch for a second American revolution, but never seem to realize that revolutionaries who fail are called traitors and end up dead.

A very small but vocal part of me really wants those farkers to try it.  Just farking try it.  Push the government that bit too far in front of the whole nation, and discover exactly what the national guard can do to outlaw militias.

What does that have to do with Texas? The article doesn't say this isn't private land, and the quotes from BLM indicate they are looking at this land. I'm not weighing in on this case, in case you didn't notice.

I've got news for you: the country is already divided.  Now it's just a matter of who wins or secedes.  Frankly, the BLM could have carpet-bombed the Bundy protests for all I care.

Good to see that Fox News is taking sides with radical fundamentalist separatists.

That's a pretty big assumption that every National Guard soldier would fall in lockstep and use force against American citizens in their own country/states. Not all of us will and it would get pretty messy very fast. I don't think anyone wants that, not even you.

SacriliciousBeerSwiller: Article:"The BLM is categorically not expanding Federal holdings along the Red River," a BLM spokeswoman said in a written statement late Tuesday afternoon.

Well, also: BLM Field Manager Stephen Tryon, in a March 17 letter to Thornberry, said officials would eventually look to "ascertain the boundary" between federal and private land and acknowledged residents' concerns that new surveys could "create cloud to their private property title."

So for the BLM to be "categorically not expanding federal holdings" isn't the same as "We aren't about to decide that we already hold more than the 140 acres we got the last time we went shopping in Texas."

Speaking as a Texan now living in exile -- and a lifelong lefty -- I really, really want to see the federal government grow a pair, decide enough is enough, and literally and physically eradicate the damn right-wing militias in this country as a "clear and present danger." America's orgasmic gun culture is a thorough embarrassment to us in trying to deal with the civilized portions of the world.

Which again falls back to the assumption that all or most of the soldiers involved would be OK with using force against American citizens on US soil. Some would for sure. A large portion would absolutely just follow orders and do what they're told. But another large portion would obfuscate. Not pass down shoot orders to the actual line companies, not issue ammo for crew served weapons, file reports saying they searched X amount of homes but not actually do it, etc. Passive resistance. You would see a lot of AWOLs and a lot of Company Commanders not reporting them as AWOL. There would be a smaller portion that would probably take up arms with the militias. The US Army is not the Red Army. We still see fellow Americans as the Good Guys and being ordered to act in a tyrannical way towards large swaths of fellow countrymen would not sit will with a sizable portion of the average soldiers. Some would, some wouldn't, and a lot would just sit on the sidelines and claim broken vehicles or unzeroed weapons make them unable to be used in an action.

Of course the larger ramifications of such an order would be felt for decades if not centuries. That would be a Rubicon crossing moment, and not one every soldier would take lightly.

Just wondering why the federal government fears the people they work for.

It could also mean that they intend to figure out exactly where the boundary is, and mark it clearly so everyone understands what's public and what's private and we don't have ranchers laying claim to public land.

On the other hand, I have no idea what the phrase "create cloud" means, so there could be more to that.

Because they're heavily armed and openly advocate overthrowing the government (which involves killing government workers) based on perceived slights to their imagined freedom.

And some gun right advocates threaten to shoot federal employees going about their lawful duties, *after* giving them an inordinate amount of time to fix their shiat.

And  yet some gun right advocates wonder why other folks feel some people shouldn't be allowed to own weapons?

Perhaps they could have a fund raiser to heighten awareness for their cause.
If they plan now, they could have a huge party of all their supporters by Halloween.
They could call it a "Ghost Dance", and just fly the American flag and assemble peaceably and see how the Federal agents react. Nothing could go wrong, right?

They work for me too.  I'm okay with all of those departments enforcing laws against smugglers, poachers, drug runners, sex traffickers, kidnappers, terrorists, fraudsters, bootleggers, etc.

Don't project your non-intrest in upholding laws onto the rest of us.  The government works for the rest of us voters as well.

Truth be told, it might be a good thing if they did. Likely, not guaranteed, but extremely likely they'd lose. Not only that, but you'd have an entire chunk if the Republican derp block voters classified as felons unable to own a gun or vote.

That and they'd show the majority of Americans just how farking dumb and selfish they really are.
