Doesn't the fact that his band sucks count as a disability?

This is a common scam among police officers and fire fighters sadly. I've also heard of cases where a problem cop is allowed to leave and collect disability as a way of quietly dealing with the problem.

I think a potential defense after listening to a "Cousin Sleaze" video was that the pain was necessary for him to "sing" like he does.

Well, did they have a power ballad?  That is what is important.

I'm on my way. . .I'm on my wa-a-ay. . .to homeless home

Now on Geffen Records, Cool Story Bro clip

Hobby of mine is irking bar bands that say they are just happy to play yet seem to take themselves WAY too seriously.

"Though he may be a total dousche bag, you have to admit that Justin Bieber sells records." is the easiest one to get them riled up.

Also used to troll metal bands asking what exactly makes metal?  Long hair bobbing up and down?  Drumming faster than a hummingbird flaps his wings?  How are your album sales going?

End clip.  Not so cool story in the end.

Just like Mr. Big was NOT metal.

I'm waiting for disability while singing in a band.  I can't drive or write, with a broken right wrist - I can type and hold a microphone in my left hand.

But now I wonder if I should be worried, even though I made it abundantly clear that I could work from home, but my boss pushed the disability on me, when the issue is not inability to do my job, but drive 33 miles on two different insane interstates each way without the ability to grab the wheel with my right hand.

(I live with the drummer of my band and our bassist lives 5 mins. away, they drive me everywhere.)

In a dream world, I'd be able to live off my music.  But actually, I *am* just happy to play. ANY person who pays $5 to hear something I wrote, to watch me sing it? That's farking amazing.  The best feeling EVER was looking at a room with a decent number of people and seeing more than one person singing along to words I wrote.

Sure, Beiber's fame, fortune, and luck would be nice, but... at what cost? He doesn't write that music. He doesn't live and breathe it (as far as I can tell.) I'm goddamned lucky ANYONE listens to my band, comes to my shows, votes for us in the CT Music Awards (we're up for 2 categories) and I *never* forget that.  Maybe I take it too seriously because I love it and hold on to that shred of a dream that we could get picked up or land a song on a show like end credits of True Blood or something.

But what good would life be without those dreams, especially when you're so passionate about things?

Unforunately, it is not always the most qualified candidate but those who can sell what others choose to want to hear.  My philosophy is that we are all just whores in this world - the dividing line is how far are we willing to go for what we want (and think we want)

And to let others pick on my musical tastes, a few of my favorite songs are "Crazy on You" by Heart, "For Those About to Rock (We Solute You)", most of the "Dirt" album by Alice in Chains, the entire album "Wish You Were Here" album by Pink Floyd, "Jag Vill" by Magnus Uggla and "Lady Love Me" by George Benson.

/one of these things is not like the other

My biggest regret is spending my youth dating and supporting musicians and only starting my first band 6 years ago.... (Now on #2 with a vague covers project in the works).  I should have focused on me and pursued my dreams instead of making flyers and promoting for others.  If I knew the right way to whore us out, I probably would.  Hard with a punk band, mind you, but not impossible.  Better than working my ass off for someone who has let people work from home for far less than a broken wrist when I can clearly (If slowly) type as I normally do.

And I never mock people for their taste in music.  It may sound hedonistic, but I don't believe in "guilty pleasures." If you enjoy it, enjoy it. Life's too short to feel guilty about what you like to listen to when music is such a natural antidepressant.

Both are ardent anti-government derpers, too.

It isn't limited to cops and firefighters....lots of dumbasses on "disability" that shouldn't be.

/my boss was on a criminal trial for a guy that said he couldn't turn a screw driver at work (electrician).  but when they showed the video of him bowling, riding a quad in the desert, playing golf, working on his truck, etc, in court, it took the jury about 45 seconds to convict him.

Things are weird. I can type.  I can sing and hold a microphone.

I cannot safely drive.

Yeah and there's a difference between doing something for fun and doing something that other people rely on. So for example, Howard Dean was criticized for getting a medical deferment from Vietnam but was later skiing. I've had extensive back surgeries for my own back problems, I would never be accepted into the military because I couldn't pass the physical. I still ski, exercise, try to live a normal and active life. Thing is, if you're skiing and the problems kick in, you go down to the lodge and jump in a hot-tub. If your work is physical and other people rely on you, you don't have that luxury. So you can totally be on disability and play a sport, or sing in a band. Because at any time you can say "guys I have to stop." But if you're a cop, firefighter, whatever... you can't be in the middle of something and say "sorry, I have to sit down. the rest of you go on ahead."

Dave Brokie, Lead singer, founder, and driving force of international sensation GWAR was found dead in his apartment when his roommates came home. No body gets rich in that industry

that job, is like a lot of jobs that philosophically similar. if you are doing it to become rich and famous, you will most likely die poor and alone.

You do it because you love it and it consumes your body and soul, becoming rich and famous for it just a a nice side benefit of all your hard work.. hopefully..

Very true... since my wrist was broken, there have been times at practices where I sat down, put my arm on a drum stool... or just stopped and said "I can't do any more tonight" - which is not a luxury when, say, it happens 17 miles into a 33 mile drive.

You can be incapable of obligations that put yourself and others in danger while still pursuing the things you love.  You can be temporarily or permanently disabled without being bedridden 24/7.
