Sadly that. It sounds like she's a nice enough person and all, and she's bringing smiles to kid's faces, but Disney isn't known for letting people use their IP for cash. If she was doing it for free I doubt there's much they could do about it since it could be written off as cosplay.

That said, she's cute, and I'd put it in her butt.

Honestly, most of the classic female Disney character are poor role models for young girls. Then again, the male ones are frequently even worse.

The original Tinkerbell from Peter Pan is, sure. But in the last few years Disney has put out a number of direct to video Tinkerbell movies that deal with her and other fairies and Tink is no longer a psycho jealous biatch.

/what? My kid watches a lot of Disney channel.

Read a blog from a "Disney" princess a while back.

As far as the legal goes, there are official ones, and ones that aren't allowed to say they're official or use their logo, but other than that Disney doesn't care since the party involves buying tons of Disney merchandise anyway (plates, party favors, videos and what not), plus they don't get the liability of an official sanction. Just so they don't claim they're sanctioned by Disney.

So they just call themselves birthday party princesses, where they can be "Disney" princesses, super heroes or what not.

This makes the people that work at the official parks pissed, but they're not going to be visiting neighborhoods to make a 4 year old's day.

I'm no lawyer but these characters are pretty much all public domain. Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid, etc. are all characters that Disney used explicitly because they were public domain. Sure, she can't say she's a Disney princess but I don't see how Disney can stop her from being Rapunzel.

This. She's got attempted murder to her credit, but you'd have to be one of the dozens of people anymore who've read the book to realize it.

Disney's continued savaging of the original Peter Pan IP gives me a sad.

True; and she says that she's only "inspired" by Disney. But they can threaten her if she gets too close to looking like the the animated characters in their movies; those costumes can be copyrighted and trademarked.

Shaggy0717: Too short for Disney, too fat for a European model.  What else can she do?

I once met an EXTREMELY hot chick who was less than 5 feet tall and had worked at Disney. As a dwarf. None of those bored dads had any idea what was inside Dopey's costume.

FTA:   "I've always loved Disney, I've been to Disneyland Paris about six times..."

LOL, FAIL.  Seriously, she loves Disney so much that she's been 6 times to the smaller knock-off and apparently never to the actual Disney World that has 4 other massive parks connected to it and its own Disney city (complete with independent police, fire, utilities etc) around it?  Never mind the other smaller parks like World of Sports or the 2 massive water parks, or Downtown Disney, or... you get the idea.

I can get a flight in late September (to miss the crowds) right now from Bristol UK (closest major airport to where this bint lives) to Orlando for £500.  The Radisson 1 mile from Downtown Disney (½-mile further to the park roads) at 3½ stars is £50/night - she'd want 5 nights minimum to see at least Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and either Epcot or Animal Kingdom in their entirety, totaling £750 pre-taxes.  I have to imagine that she spent more than that for 6 trips to Paris.

"While her blossoming business is going well, she said it's not about making money."

That's good, because unless she has a license from Disney to represent characters from their copyright and IP (which I didn't see in the article), I'm envisioning a large lawsuit against her for royalty infringement.  Disney does not "look the other way" in this department - you don't acquire Marvel, ABC, ESPN, A&E, and LucasFilm by looking the other way on copyright and they have an established history of copyright/IP lawsuits.  They're actually an awesome company, but you gotta play by their rules.

/your parade, let me piss rain on it.

Gemma said, "All the better to fit into these costumes".

And Disney responded, "Yeah. About that.....".

You'd likely be wrong. A train from London to Paris, that takes all of 2 1/2 hours costs 40 pounds one way. Makes a two way trip 80 pounds. Vastly cheaper than your 500 pound round trip right off the bat.

And because absolutely no one has said it yet, I must point out that Tinkerbell is NOT A GODDAMNED DISNEY PRINCESS.  She's a farking fairy.  How is this so hard to grasp?  Hell, they have a whole listing of who the actual Princesses are and everything.  It's all over the internet.

\and let's face it: Tink's a slut.  Hanging out with a bunch of borderline pubescent boys all day? That's not pixie dust, kids.

Dingleberry Dickwad: Tinkerbell movies that deal with her and other fairies and Tink is no longer a psycho jealous biatch

No, but she still has a terrible temper and displays both poor judgement and a lack of impulse control.

In Tinker Bell she stirs up the thistles and nearly keeps spring from coming.

In Lost Treasure she loses her temper and breaks the wand-thing, makes a trek to the wish mirror and then proceeds to again lose her temper and blow her only shot at restoring it.

In Great Fairy Rescue she refuses to listen to warnings and gets her pixie arse caught in a trap and locked up in a birdcage.

In Secret of the Wings she almost gets her sister killed, gets Pixie Hollow iced over, and manages to also break her wing.

In Pirate Fairy she happily helps Zarina engage in illegal and dangerous pixie dust experiments, eventually leading to Zarina's turn to piracy and eventual theft of the blue dust.

The girl simply can't control herself.  I'm expecting any day to see her knocked up and not knowing who da baby daddy is after a drunkenly pulling a train with Terrance, Clank, and Bobble.

/Why yes, I do have a young daughter.  How could you tell?

Sure, she can be Hans Christen Anderson's mermaid, but not Ariel specifically, as that character is Disney's creation. And then there's this:
Her business - Enchanting Story Book Parties - is going from strength to strength and she's recently added characters from Disney's latest hit film Frozen to her repertoire.
"She was amazing. Frozen is Gracie's favourite film and she came round with loads of presents, including a tiara and a bracelet just like the ones she was wearing as well as loads of Easter eggs.
"They sat and talked for ages and then sang Let it Go together."

New character and song that's under copyright.

/not to mention all the potential trademark and trade dress violations
