Vanilla Ice is the one who should have had collaboration sneakers.

Can't say I'm THAT surprised given he has a song about them. Though to a decent extent I'm a bit surprised they LET him given said song isn't exactly the kind they'd want to use in a commercial...

1984 called. They want their salmon high tops back.

Trust me. This is not a time period whose fashion we wish to revisit.

Ah he got the velcros.

2014-04-23 02:49:01 PM
So according to Mackelmore, $50.00 Gucci T-Shirt is bad, but Jordan Melo M10 for $165 is good?

Seacop: Ah he got the velcros.

You know it would have been extremely funny if he would have made them pink with velcro.

Shee-iat... I wouldn't by them if they were 99 cents.

So they're just going to pretend this song doesn't exist?  "Don't buy expensive shoes."

The only reason this dude is famous is because of the chorus on that one song. "I'm gonna pop some caps, only got $20 in my pocket, this is farking awesome" I thought it was a song about drug dealing or some shiat the first 80 times I heard it, because the only thing worth hearing was the hook.

Damn, I can't keep up with you guys anymore about what to like and what to hate. Last year, pretty much any Macklemore thread was full of nothing but fanboys gushing over how awesome he is.

Has Fark reached "Peak Macklemore" already?

That's the joke. He already got paid.

BZZZT. Wrong. While "Thrift Shop" did help him get name recognition, he hit national fame with "Same Love".

I'll always applaud the dude because of that song.

Jordan Brand and other shoe companies have deals like this to create HYPE.

And yes, people actually get excited about these collaborations.

Jordan Brand has a similar deal with Drake as well. So they have two of the lamest, but most  popular rappers in their stable -- and the latter point is all the brand cares about.

Kanye West also  (sort of)designed two shoes for Nike, before leaving for Adidas

Typically artists are not paid for these collaborations. They're about building mutual brands through prestige and recognition. West left Nike for Adidas because Adidas would pay him.

These shoes are usually released in limited quantities to create HYPE around a brand.

Source: I'm a sneaker nerd. And yes I think all of these collaborations are dumb and that the HYPE is killing the fun of collecting.

I apologize in advance for my hobby.

Why is Air Jordan subletting to Carmelo Anthony? Did New York learn NOTHING from Grandmama?

I remember seeing Macklemore at hip hop in the park in Berkeley a few years ago before he really blew up. I remember standing around confused because everyone around me was so into the music and holding their lighters in the air, and I thought he was one of the corniest artists I had ever seen. Didn't get the appeal then, still don't now. Now he's super famous. CSB.

This and this and this some more.

He is just not very good.  Ryan Lewis is the reason why he's a hit.  Being white and smiley doesn't hurt either.

He's that guy from Sugar Ray if you told him to rap and inject a few bits of social commentary that is already preaching to the choir.

You're from the Twin Cities according to your profile, so you must have been annoyed when people were comparing these guys to Atmosphere.

Don't...even...get...me...started.

Not originally from there, but lived in Minneapolis long enough to know the impact Atmosphere has made.  Then this skinny white boy rolls in going on about thrift shops and paying at the state fair and he's ALL over the current and... I have to stop before I say something I'll regret.
