Someone broke into the trailer of a semi truck late Saturday parked on the Eastside, police said, and made off with one whole pallet of Axe shower gel.

No word if the Authorities are canvasing the local middle and junior high schools?

I'm guessing the dogs have refused to track it.

As far as I'm concerned, these thieves are heroes, not criminals. They are keeping these nefarious chemicals from reaching the streets.

One thing about it: Somewhere, wandering the streets of Indianapolis, might be one sexy-smelling thief.

I work at a grocery store in Indiana, and the Kroger stores in Indianapolis have locks on the wheels of the shopping cart that activate when the cart leaves the store, because there has been a huge problem with people loading up carts full of the big jugs of Tide laundry detergent, and just running out the door and throwing them into the trunk of a waiting accomplice's vehicle and absconding. Lots of meth labs locally have been found with huge stashes of big Tide jugs, which are expensive and easy to steal and something everybody needs. So they can be easily traded to almost anyone for $10 because they cost $24 in the store and three guys can steal ten in five minutes. We have holographic stickers that we put on the jugs asking people to report if they find them for sale at a flea market or some shiat, but nobody calls.

The problem was not helped by the recent trend of HE concentrated detergent proliferation which are jugs half the size and nearly twice as expensive.

I agree, I don't see a crime here.

Heard about this on NPR the other day. Maybe the cops will want to scatter file sensors around town.

http://www.middletownpress.com/general-news/20120510/axe-body-spray-s e ts-off-fire-alarm-at-middletown-high-school

MIDDLETOWN -- A fire alarm was set off at Middletown High School by Axe Body Spray, a fire official said Thursday afternoon.

The fire department responded to a call of a fire alarm by the gymnasium a little after 3 p.m. The call was cleared shortly thereafter, when crews on scene realized the body spray had set off the alarm. The call was deemed a "routine accidental" by dispatch.

"It was some kid in the locker room using body spray and it created a cloud of mist right underneath the sensor," Fire Marshal Albert Santostefano said. "The mist could trip the fire alarm, steam from a shower could trip it. It looks like he used an overabundance, and they said it was Axe Body Spray."

Santostefano said there are normally not regular fire alarms in the shower section of a locker room because of the steam, but heat sensors are used. In the dressing room area, however, regular fire detectors are used.

I don't know about holographic stickers, but I laugh at the stores that think sticking ordinary stickers that say 'This product is only meant to be sold at CVS...call this number if found elsewhere, etc'. Do they really think this stops a thief from taking them, or cheapos at the flea market from buying them?
