California is pretty damn safe for environmentalists compared to Brazil. They kill people's whole families for logging.

Not to mention the occasional accidental outbreak of vaccine-resistant capoeira

Is California considered dangerous because you can get run over by a stealthy Prius?

This headline is bad and subby should feel bad.

I wonder if they counted stupid, tree-hugging hippies sticking their heads in machinery while other stupid environmental activists say "what does this lever do?" as killing in the context of conflicts over the ownership, control and use of land,"

Remember, the malicious and irresponsible hooligans who spike trees and commit arson are "environmentalists" too...

Oh hidy ho officer, we've had a doozy of a day. There we were minding our own business, just doing some clear cutting, when hippies started killing themselves all over these public lands.

Please. Brazil is so safe! They are getting the Olympics and the World Cup, after all!

Well the Brazilians ARE using a lot of hardwood in their flooring.  Hardwood floors look nice, but they're really not eco-friendly.  They're putting entire species on the endangered list (LINK-POPS).  On the other hand, the enhanced aesthetics HAS encouraged tourism in the area due to the increased visibility and ease of access.

I'm giving subby the benefit of the doubt for misspelling Indiana.

More like the "environmental activists" who had a premature detonation on their way to a logging site (Earth First! morons back in the 1990s).  They "were killed" "in the context of" environmental activism... by their own stupid, bomb making selves, but I am sure those nuances are ignored for the cause of environmentalism.

But hey, we pay $0.05 less per hundred copies of unnecessarily printed documents at work, so all the market needs to do to correct it is not buy products from companies that buy products that involved terrorist activities to help maintain their current levels of productivity.

(What I'm saying here is that the free market as a means to control evil behavior is bullshiat)

Are you suggesting that the system can be irrational longer than I/the nation/the environment can stay solvent?  That's unpossible!

For the neo-classicist set, that is literally an assumption of their models.  Half the beliefs that make up the gestalt that is our fiscal policy come from actually believing what you said, without a hint of sarcasm.

I love it how you have absolutely no idea of what you're talking about, yet try to assume a tone of authority in the matter.

WTF are you talking about?  Definitely nothing to do with the hundreds of Brazilian environmentalists who have been killed or disappeared for trying to sound the alarm on farming/logging/mining companies destroying what is supposed to be protected forest and waterways.

I've noticed most people who have hardwood floors put rugs on them. Which makes me wonder, are merkin futures a good investment?

I remember I was once down in Brazil visiting a friend, shortly after an incident in the same state where a nun had been murdered for speaking out on behalf of local farmers and environmental concerns in the Amazon. You can't get more f*cked up than that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorothy_Stang
