as opposed to pesky lawyers who cost them billions when they sue... imagine a lactose intolerant person, or even a person with dairy allergy, eating a cheese filled hot dog, when they bought a plain one.

That's assuming the "cheese" inside those dogs actually contains dairy.

Warning: your hot dog may include many protein rich "meats" and other "food" materials blended in, which you may not expect. Many of which, I worry about. WAIT... We're worried about CHEESE?

Oscar Meyer hot dogs suck.

Top 5:

5. Ball Park All-Beef
4. Kowalski
3. Koegel's Skin-On Frankfurters
2. Hebrew National
1. Nathan's Famous All-Beef

Michigan has the highest standards in the nation for what can be put into hot dogs, last I checked, thus the inclusion of Koegel's and Kowalski. Also, we did invent the coney island hot dog (not Coney Island, strangely enough), and we know a good hot dog around here when we get one.

That said, Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs rock like crazy. I almost never even have them in buns... I buy pretzel or croissant dough, and I wrap the dogs in it and then bake them. They are soooo good that way. Add some cheese and dip in your favorite condiments.

BTW-- If you're paying $4 a pop for a pretzel dog from Auntie Anne's in the mall, you're getting ripped off. You can buy a whole package of Nathan's Famous for around $4-$5 and a can of pretzel dough for around a buck.

And then I'm walking around the mall eating cold hotdogs and pretzel dough, and that's just weird.

Well, you could bake it at home, and bring it with you if you REALLY want to hang out at the mall. Of course, the only reason anyone goes to malls these days is to hit on teenage girls (or work there), so maybe the whole "can I buy you a hot dog?" thing is just a euphemism to be unfurled in the presence of a mall-dwelling teenybopper.

Either way, if you actually enjoy the things (pretzel dogs, not teenagers) then paying Auntie Anne's is not efficient in the long run, unless you're jonesin' and can't make it home to your own oven in time.

/And I do feel that way about Nathan's hot dogs, sometimes.

I hope they at least donate the recalled (but perfectly safe) food to a shelter or free pantry.  The problem is the packaging, not the contents.  Give them away properly identified and everything would be fine.

Why would anyone older than four eat Oscar Meyer Anything? Have some self-respect, people.
