DON.MAC: The stupid slow speed limits in most work zones aren't to protect the workers but to keep the wrecks that will happen from killing too many idiot drivers.

speaking as someone who, while working on a road crew, has had my jacket brushed by a passing speeder, I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you there.

This will effectively punish everyone.  It will only take one speeder to get a group of cars blasted with the noise.
