I'm going to be working out of my office tomorrow, but it's just going to be me and one other extremely chill coworker. I think it would be prudent for me to crank a bunch of reggae and other appropriate music out of my workstation's speakers.

Can I get some friendly suggestions? I'm thinking Marley and the Wailers, definitely Sublime, and the Catch-22s. Probably some Ben Harper?

No problem bro.

After living on and off in latin america for 20 years your ear gets trained to recognize the differences in musical styles.

However, at first it all sounds the same, and it is hard to hear the subtle differences.

Salsa and Meringue sound the same to many people and nortena has become a catch all to much mexican music.

I think the best blend of Afro Carribean, latin, and rock was done by War.  Spill the Wine being a perfect example.

One of my favorites is a Cuban ex pat band called Cubanismo.  They went to New Orleans and recorded a spanglish mix of 1950s New Orleans hits and it is amazing.

They reworked the old Ernie K. Doe classic of Mother in Law.  It starts out like the traditional version then moves into a mambo and onto a proto salsa vibe. amazing.

tinfoil-hat maggie: Weatherkiss: tinfoil-hat maggie: Weatherkiss: tinfoil-hat maggie: soosh: UsikFark, this is because of the aforementioned Sh*t Hits The Fans Replacements album, which was recorded on tape in 1984.

Pretend you're at a club and a drunk band is playing for you.

Ha, I love it, hehehe, and well I don't have to even pretend the drunk part : D

Whatchoo drinking, Maggie? Convenience store near here just recently started getting Fat Tire, so I'm trying that out for the first time.

Well I have some Woodchuck spring hard apple cider and a lot more Busch lite. yeah, I go cheap at times and I still haven't tried Fat Tire. the Genius Extra stot is divine though but getting to heavy for spring/summer/

I haven't had a Woodchuck in a while. Had Angry Orchard a few times lately. I was lucky to find Fat Tire, haven't seen it sold in Ohio in a very long time since it's mostly a western U.S. brand. I have Fark to thank for keeping it fresh in my memory as a beer I had to try. So far I like it, I'd recommend it.

I'll have to try it, do y'all have Angry Dog ? Most of those are pretty good.

some recent beers I've had that were pretty good:

Kuhnhenn White Devil
Perrin Grapefruit IPA
Blue Point Toasted Lager

handful of others, but I don't see them listed on the bar's page as far as what's currently on tap, shoulda kept the lists from the flights I had this week.

You know, as an old fart, I have been digging on a group called the Dirty Heads, very Sublimish.  I would also check Ben harpers buddies.  The Animal Liberation Orchestra.  They have a tune called Girl I want to lay you down.  Great funk vibe.

The one thing I hate about the weather getting warmer is it makes stouts and dunkel's to heavy to drink IMHO , and I love those but there are several things I like but I stay away from malt liqueur products.

If you can get any Kona Brewing products in your area, they make some kickass porters and a dunkel that are flavorful and full but light.

I got booted to South America when I was 18 because I was drinking and partying too much in New Orleans, but I do not think Colombia was the best place to send a kid who liked to tear it up.

But my grandmother was a judge and a spanish teacher, and she pretty much yelled it into me.

My parents were born in the 1930s and grew up at a time when American kids were punished for speaking Spanish in school. My dad was bilingual but didn't speak English with a Spanish accent, and he didn't want his kids having Spanish accents, either.
