How farking stupid do you have to be to set up a presentation 12 inches from the edge of an active train platform?  Have these people never been in a train station?

There's three simple, easy-to-remember words for train safety.

The yellow zone. Stay out of it. How is this not worthy of the Ironic tag?

And no, I doubt that a whole lot of politicians at that high of a rank have spent much time, if any, riding public transportation other than for a photo shoot showing them to be just like "The common man", the current VP being excluded of course, he made a lot of political hay out of that. That alone should tell you that he was the exception to the rule.

The yellow zone is for passenger loading and unloading only. There is no parking in the white zone.

Stupid is as stupid does Mr. Democrat.  Never go full retard.

/Why is it that only democratics need that warning.
//Less people would be killed by trains if lesss people were hit by them.  Or less people rode them.  Or less trains were made.  Next time, use your car or take a plane.

So the guy calmly holds unto the easel and moves it over a few inches when video guy points out a train is coming.  Wow, that was some dodge there.

On the other hand why would you even hold a press conference on the platform itself?

How do a couple of lowlife pieces of shiat like Schumer and Blumenthal get elected to office in the US? That is the real question. Any other question is a distraction from the important question I just asked.

2014-04-20 01:12:56 AM
I'm usually annoyed by ads before the video, especially for short ones like this.. but an OnStar ad talking about detecting car crashes seemed oddly appropriate.

Trains around here tend to stop at every station.. so seeing one whizzing through at full speed seemed a bit odd.

This is stupid. The senator was completely in the safe zone. Whoever his assistant was almost got Darwined, but this Senator was standing exactly where he should be. You don't step in or on the yellow line, as anyone who has caught a train(and can read) will tell you, and he was 100% in the safe area.

The easel and the assistant were in the wrong spot, not the Senator.

Yeah, they appear on here all of the time. Do you need someone to hold the nails while you stick yourself up on that cross?

Interestingly enough, you're sporting some serious wood over an incorrect article anyway. He wasn't anywhere he should take have been. The article writer needs to be put in time out for either lying or not being smart...

That's the difference between democrats and republicans.  When a democrat does something stupid, other democrats can appreciate that it was stupid and, in circumstances where it is illegal or unethical, even denounce the person who does it.  If it's a republican who's caught, on the other hand, their fellow republicans will close ranks and make excuses why the behavior isn't THAT bad and denounce people who criticise it as persecuting them for being conservative or some such.

There's a reason IOKIYAR is a saying on the internet (meaning "It's okay if you're a republican").  Democrats actually care that our elected officials aren't retarded derpers.  Republicans...not so much.

Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) holds commuter safety press conference, nearly gets hit by train

Article and subby's headline are utter nonsense.  No one was ever even close to being in hit by anything.  The closest thing to the train was the easel, and even that only got hit by a little wind.  The Senator was in the middle of the platform, and even the assistant was barely in the yellow (even though that yellow warning area is WAY bigger than the similar warning areas on WMATA warning areas I encounter) and a good foot from the edge.

Standing outside the yellow zone is safer than standing in it, but anyone who rides trains regularly knows that people stand in the marked zone (it's not always yellow depending on location) all the time.  It's a buffer to give your some room for error if you trip or if someone pushes you or you have some other accident.  It's not some kind of danger area that the train might accidentally come flying through.  No one was in any danger of being hit, and no one dodged anything.

It was a stupid place to put the easel, and even stupider for a  video about train safety, but Subby and TFA author are still both blithering idiots.

No you see, the failure of Sen. Blumenthal to notice the approaching train is an indictment on the failures of the Democrat Party to notice the approaching (pick one: collapse of Obamacare; default of the national debt; WWIII caused by Obama's limp-wristed foreign policy).

As a libby-libby-huge-farking-liberal Farker, I have to agree - lighten up, Francis. That yellow textured line is there for a reason, and Blumenthal nearly became his own friggin' object example. I mean, hell, they're actually standing on, and holding their presentation on, the very friggin' warning that they're asking everyone to heed.

I thought it was hilarious.

Ooo!  Ooo!  Can I try?  *ahem*

Obviously, that Dumb-o-crat and his staff assumed that they would stop the trains until his oh-so-important press conference was over.

Typical Big Government-loving libtards - they're perfectly willing to inconvenience ordinary people to advance their own propaganda.

The best part is that Real Americans drive pickup trucks and SUVs, and only welfare leeches and "urban" types take the train.  So they shat on their own voter base!  HAW HAW

Maybe we should just tell people to play on the tracks and institute a bounty system for train drivers. Anyone so dumb as to willingly stand in the path of a train deserves to get hit. It weighs hundreds of tons, takes thousands of feet to stop, and has no method of avoiding you. IT'S ON RAILS. YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHERE IT'S GOING.

They get elected when you realize they actually are the best of the bunch there. It was either Schumer or more of Al D'Amato.

These days when there's a senatorial election in New York I write in Daniel Patrick Moynihan. Sure, he's dead, but even so he's still more of an original thinker.

Yeah if that's "nearly getting hit by a train" millions of people narrowly avoid death by train on a daily basis.

Just to clarify, the senator was NOT the one speaking... that was the mayor... the senator WAS the one on the yellow line next to the easel.

As far as "millions of people narrowly avoid death" in the same manner... I am sure people not wisely stand on the yellow area when trains are coming, although most have the knowledge to be watching for trains coming by and not have their back to it.
